Merthur/Merlin one shot

Mpreg part 2 of 2

Merlin leaned on the wall as having his arms folded. All this was too much for him and he was not even remotely sure what to feel now.

"So you got finally laid and have a wife?" Arthur's cheeky voice made him flinch and almost tripping.

"No, I have no one." His voice was soft as continue watching his daughter play yet no magic was used. A thing that he was really glad about.

"A shame but how did you have her then?" Arthur asked with confusion yet curiosity and he was not sure what to tell him.

"Oh, your the prat my mommy always complained about whenever he talked about you. He also has this fond look, are you my daddy?" The childish curiosity yet also sneakiness of the her voice made him know that she was doing this intentional.

"Jennifer we talked about this."

He was almost starting a rant again but seeing Arthur's astonished look made him pause and unsure exactly what to say. The fear of what would come made him, hasty say that he has to go now and leave before Arthur could say anything else.

"Visit granny's place! I wanna see you and Mommy be happy!" Jennifer called cheekily out and making his cheeks heat up as picking the cheeky little fox out and the rest of the way was with Jennifer asking question about her Daddy and why they were not together.

Merlin was going around the question and it was clear to his daughter that he was doing that intentional. She was smart yet oblivious and could not understand why he was doing this. When being back home, his mother was also scolding her and later on the two talked.

Merlin was not sure what to do next. Knowing the stubbornness of Arthur was making it clear that he would arrive at some point. Just to know why his daughter called him daddy. God this was a mess and knowing the prat the other would for sure want answers why he left.

It took two weeks.

At the moment, he had been working out on the field as making sure that the vegetables were growing and watered enough. This was their income and it was not too bad for them. Merlin was feeling as well restless and nightmares plagued his mind about the reaction of Arthur. Most of the times he was yelled at and not accepted. His heart ached at the thought and he wondered how long it would take until Arthur would arrive and telling him that he was a disgrace.

His daughter knew something was not right with his Mommy and even as she tried to make him laugh, it was forced and he could tell that she felt helpless. But he could not bring himself to feel happy, even for her.

"You know Merlin, running away is not like you at all. The Merlin I know would stay and not give up that fast." Arthur's voice disrupted his grim thoughts and a wince was going through him.

"Screw you Arthur. Have you ever thought about how I felt when you told me indirect to forget that we had sex. Even when it was when we both were drunk. You jerk." He gritted out as glaring. Merlin had bubbled this so long in him and the stress made him crack.

Arthur clearly was taken aback but right now he was frustrated, heartbroken and fearful that his rationality was thrown out fo the window.

"I-" Arthur wanted clearly to say something but he cut in as continue to rant his frustration out. Even blurting out his magic, and his pregnancy as slowly backing away, fearing what Arthur would do next.

The fear alone made him not even realizing that Arthur had been guilty. Maybe this was why he started run into or trying to. Out of clumsiness he tripped over his foot and straight down on the ground with a thud. This seemed to bring the other to react and instantly rushing over.

Merlin froze as waiting for what he thought would come, yet it never came. Arthur pulled him into his chest. He flinched first but then all of it made him start to break down. The other had yet not said anything and he wondered why he was hugging him

Why Arthur was not mad at him. Yet it seemed that he had been wrong because Arthur was not here to cause any trouble.

"Shit, should have known that it was my carelessness that made you leave. I am so sorry. When you left I had a lot of my knights yell at me for making you leave. I had not even realized that I harmed you with what I said." Arthur sounded guilty and him apologizing was something that had never happened. It made him flush deeply and burying his head into the chest out of embarrassment.

"I was scared what the council would say when they would hear about me being in love with a male and a servant. It was bad enough for them that I wanted to marry Gwen a servant girl. But a male would not work." The tone was soft and he winced at this, knowing exactly what the other meant, yet he had not said anything yet, feeling too speechless to get something out.

"Gwaine was pointing out that I am the king and should stop letting other people tell me how to rule my kingdome."

He snorted at this as snuggling into the arms. Merlin both felt sleepy yet also comfy in the arms of the other.

"Could be somethin' I would say." He sleepily answered with a cheekiness and the other snorted as well.

"Well, I guess yeah, all jokes aside, I was a clotpole and should have not acted this way, hope you forgive me for causing you pain and not being there for our daughter the last 9 year." The tone was both soft, guilty but also jokingly and he blinked owlishly as nodding because he was just so goddamn tired to even get something out.

"Let me guess you overthought things and ended up having nightmares because of this?" It was a rhetorical question by Arthur and he pouted as grumbling out something illegible. The other chuckled and he must have fallen asleep, because the next time he woke up was in a bed.

As he went outside of the room, he had to pause as watching both daughter and father converse heatingly about something and he smiled softly. Hunith was also talking and he knew that it would turn out fine. Even when there would be some arguments but this was normal.
