Merthur/Merlin one shot

Pranking the knights thinking they lost it

Merlin looked around and intertwined hands with Arthur after being sure that none watched. The male glanced at him first but seen have a twitch the corner of his lips, with him muttering an idiot under his breath. A teasing grin stretched out of him.

"Your idiot."

A snort was heard and he giggled as they continued to walk, but soon Arthur slipped out of his hands and his head got smacked playfully. Both gave each other a look.

"Your being an utter moron again."

He playfully said and a smirk starting to appear. "Well I wasn't the one who didn't listen today when we were attacked again, so who's the moron now, prat."

This started a week ago. They wanted to see how long it would take for others to realize that the two were a couple. It was just that they were bored, and Arthur was like 'hey, how about we start a prank on everyone of our friends. Let's see how long it takes for them to think that they are losing it.' So, this leads us to now.

"I think I imagined it."

He could hear Gwaine mutter and everyone nodded too.

"Get back to train!" Arthur yelled and everyone scrambled away and starting to move again. Merlin and Arthur had amusement in their eyes at this as they now starting to fight. Him with daggers- as he found out he was way better with smaller weapons- and Arthur with a sword.

"You know the drill."

Arthur muttered into his ears and he giggled. They were right now on a hunting trip. The knights stared at the two and both knew what to do next.

"You bloody moron. Now we lost another deer because of you giggling like a girl."

"Oi, it was your fault for saying something funny like this. And I snorted not giggled. Not to mention that you're the girl and not me!"

He yelled back and both starting to playful bicker again. The knights were again confused, and he heard this time Elyan mutter 'I think I just imagined it'. Mission accomplished. Messing with the knights was just too fun.

The next time it was night and they walked around. Arthur gave him a kiss on his cheeks and as soon as Lancelot and the others are near, he used his magic to make them invisible. Arthur has seen him use his magic per accident and it ended up with him being furious for hiding this, but by now they made up and ended up even as a couple.

"Guys, is it just me or wherever we go Merlin and Arthur are doing couple things?"

Lancelot pointed out and he had to hold his giggled or else they would hear it. Ever Arthur was probably trying to hold his.

"Well, maybe we all just want them to finally be together and our brain makes it up?" Mordred tried to reason but his eyes glanced into their direction and he knew that Mordred caught up with it.

Let me play with them. I love their reaction by the way. The amused voice was heard into his head and he knew now that Mordred would help.

Sure, I wonder how long it takes for them to realize that they didn't imagine it?

He watched the knights agree with Mordred and that was it.

This continued on and on. Until one day Lancelot finally managed to realize what was happening. They all were sitting around at the table where they have their meetings. He and Arthur were hidden in the shadows and he even made sure not to let themselves be shown.

"They are playing with us. Merlin has to have magic or how else would he do these things. Not that I mind it, but it would make sense." Well, that was fun. Let's see how long it will take for them to try and find them.

"Yeah, but they really have too much time on their hands when they prank us like this. And I knew about his magic. He did rescue us way too many times. So, I don't care, and Arthur either." Elyan said with a huff. That was a surprise, but it warmed his heart that both Lancelot and Elyan aren't caring about his magic.

"I mean- wait Merlin has magic. Are you sure about this? Wouldn't that be dangerous, it's still not really legal yet." Leon sounded surprised and this made him muse and as well wince in the last part. Arthur was still on it, but it takes still a few more months as the council was not going to just let this go.

"Yes, it was obvious. And amateurs I knew four months that these two are together or why else were they flirtier with each other. Or the small touches which were carefully chosen when none was looking. The king knew what would happen to Merlin. Even I fear that this could get dangerous."

Sadly, the truth and he shivered at the thought at what could happen. Which was why Arthur was careful when shown publicly affection. Even with this prank, he made sure that just the knights could see this and no one else.

"Arthur is the king and it would be treason for them to harm his manservant or friend. When the council would catch wind of this, nothing will happen. Other than them getting banned."

It was now that Arthur stepped aside, and he stayed there but letting the invisibility loose. He slowly stepped aside too.

"What are you girls who need to chat about someone's love life? Don't you have more important things to do than this?" Arthur asked with amusement and he couldn't help but giggle at their surprised expression.

"Yes, it's true and yes we are a couple. Took you one month to realize this. Merlin, you were right and won the bet. You get your free day when you need it." His eyes glanced back at him and he grinned as rushing over.

"Told you that they would be slow. But Mordred was close as well with three weeks."

This seemed to bring the others out of their shocked state, and they shook their head in amusement.

L: "I guess congrats. And about the magic is...that true?" He nodded at this and Leo couldn't get something out until he nodded but not asking anything anymore. It seemed that he accepted this fact.

G: "Finally, took you long enough to tell us. By the way, this prank was amazing. I knew that something was up. And meh don't care about your magic." Gwaine grinned brightly and he felt his heart swell in joy at his best friend saying this.

L: "May as well say Gwaine and I are a thing. Oh, and congrats you two. The magic thing knew it and never cared about it. You stay Merlin with or without it." The other male spluttered and having wide eyes. He and Arthur smirked and giving each other a high five.

"Finally, congrats too. And uh thank you." His voice was both chipper, but it was as well soft at the end when he thanks them.

"Congrats at least now we knew where that limp comes from time to time Gwaine. Oh, and uh thanks." The male had at first a suggestive eye wiggle and then awkward. It was clear that he wasn't used to thanking others. The two males were blushing furiously. The rest as well gave their thanks. Everything was going well and even after the council found out, none could do anything.

Even when they tried to harm him, Arthur had enough and put everyone in place. None had said anything anymore. Other than Agravaine. The Uncle was constantly trying to get rid of him until he ended up getting banned from Arthur. Now everything was well and in the end, they even adopted a baby boy who had been found from an attack.
