It was getting worse with time with Uther. His mother had come to visit him and it was going well. He went and pick her up and then things went downhill. He did not get how it went this way. Merlin could not understand why Uther would do this and worse was Arthur was away in town with the other knights patrolling and now he was seeing his mother being dragged away by the knights of Uther.
He did know their name and even as he tried to stop it, screaming to let her go, they did not. So he followed them, trying to talk them out of taking his mother away, and then he was in front of the king.
"What is the meaning of this?" He could not help but ask, because this made no sense.
His mother gave him a glance that told him not to argue and he wanted to but knew that whatever Uther would do will destroy everything in his life. Merlin felt that this would break him. Because he did know that Uther is a tyrant that kills without reason, and now he might lose his mother.
"An informant has told me that your mother has done treason." Uther coldly stated and he stared blankly at the male.
"What?" That was all he could utter.
"She has used magic."
His brows furrowed as he knew that his mother had not used magic. That this was told by an informant was suspicious at best.
"I see. Yet its strange." He uttered and tilted his head.
"I lived with her, I know her." He answered and gave a cool expression.
"I know that he doesn't have magic, nor has she used it, after all, how would this informant know that she has magic when her own son lived with her?"
"That informant has lived in that village that you reside." It was said and added, "You might have lived with her but she might have hidden this after all she got corrupted." The male stated and deep fear bubbled up.
"Sire you are a hypocrite." He could not help but say and the male froze at this.
"What did you just say?"
He cooly looked at him and smirked knowingly. "You used magic to make an heir after all, and that is how your wife died, isn't it so?"
The male froze and looked gobsmacked not expecting this. His mother looked surprised. The knights could see now that this was true because someone who did not do that, would not freeze.
"Who told you this?"
"I have my own informant, and that person told me. You condemn entire people that have not done anything, because of one person. I also know that this person has told me you knew from the risk, yet ignored it." Merlin uttered and the male looked frostily know.
"You are lucky that my son likes you, or else I would execute you. Knights, no word will be uttered of this, I forbid it." Uther gritted out and the knights were looked at him and he shrugged knowing that its their decision what they want to do with that information.
"Yes, sire." All knights in the room said.
"Now to the punishment, after all, we know what punishment someone gets for having magic." Uther uttered and his heart turned to ice. His body frozes, unable to move, beg nothing.
"Death is the punishment. Give me the sword, I will show you a lesson to talk back against me. Hopefully, with this, you will learn this lesson and never again do that." Uther coldly said and he was held back by two knights, even as he tried to break free it was not working.
He watched with horror, his mother being beheaded in front of him. Worse was that she told him with her motherly tone that she loved him, and that he should live his life and be happy. He stared with wide eyes full of sorrow seeing her fall down, even then he was frozen.
"Bring him down in the dungeon and tell no one where he is, not even my son."
He was dragged away still staring blankly, not even realizing that Gwen has seen him. He was still in shock. That vanished when he was thrown into the dungeon. First came sorrow, he cried and sobbed his heart for his mother. Then came the anger towards Uther.
The moment his mother was killed was the moment he realized that Uther was lost. He would not change and he needed to go. Still, the tears rolled down and hugged his legs, waiting to be freed. This time he knew that not even Gaius would be able to get him.
The king would not listen and when Uther would let him go would be the time where he would vanish. He would not stay in Camelot, even when Arthur would ask him to stay. He did not care any longer.
Merlin would start his revolution and will make sure that the world will learn that the things that Uther is doing is hypocrity. He did use magic after all and people will get to know that. So he waited for the knight being over.
His gaze snapped towards Leon who opened the door. He gave him a head tilt, and the male knew something was for sure wrong.
"Tell our friends that I left. Do not stop me." His voice held bitterness for a good reason.
"Why did the king lock you here?"
"I told him something that was the truth but did not like. Just a little secret that none can know, Uther used magic to bring an heir and that is why your lovely Queen died, and he knew of the risks. I asked the person who helped Uther after all." He said with a bitter smile and pushed himself off, walked away, to Gaius and as entering he gave him a look before going into his room.
"Wait Merlin, my boy what are you doing?"
"Packing, what else am I doing?"
"Where will you go?"
"Somewhere, where I know that I can stop this madness."
Uther looked at him with confusion, and he knew something was wrong instantly at his tone. Yet he did not say anything.
"I see, let me pack you some food and some medicine that you can use." It was softly replied and he nodded no smile was on him.
