His voice never sounded so cold. Arthur has done. Something which not many managed to do. Pissing off Merlin. The kind-hearted Merlin, who usually never gets ticked off. Why he is ticked off? Well, he did push him over the edge with him having to work his ass off. Not even a thank you was once heard. And to make it worse, there were more and more assassin's attempts. And he has the audacity to tell him that he was useless and didn't even do much. That was why he right now looked at him dead in the eyes, with no friendliness anymore and saying in a cold tone...

"I quit, Arthur. You don't even say thank you or sorry whenever you use me as a training punching back. I am not useless and you will soon enough see this."

He turned around and walking away. This was it -when he would stay- he would for sure lose it. That was why he decided to stay away for at least a month. Let's see how they will do without his help. Maybe then they will apprichiate now his help. The only two people who at least say thank you are Gaius and Gwaine. He just will ask for his place to stay and reading and not doing anything.

---

Gwaine found out about -a month- ago about his magic and he was accepting. That was he walked up to the training ground and up to Gwaine.

"You and me one on one now. I need to let some steam out and I have enough of me having to fake everything and then we will have a talk."

His voice held no friendliness and it was as cold as before. The people -who were there- were taken aback by this, and even Gwaine. But he just smirked as he threw him a sword. Merlin caught the handle and got into his stance. What no one knew was that he actually was good at fighting with his sword. Even when he preferred to use daggers. Just always hid it and right now he just had enough.

"Let me guess Arthur."

He narrowed his eyes and he huffed out as his expression showed how much furious he was right now.

"Yes, and I have enough. But enough with chit chat."

They started to walk around each other and both watched their move. Gwaine and he haven't made a move and he decided to start his first attack. He dashed forward and swung his sword at Gwain, the male just parried it. As a metal sound rang. Merlin attacked with grace and precision.

This went for a while until; Gwaine was on the ground and him breathing heavily. At least he felt a bit better now. He put his hand in front of Gwaine, which the latter took, and pulling him up on his feet.

"Let's go now."

He gave the sword to Leon and started to walk away, with Gwaine right next to him. The entire way both were silent until they were in his small room. When they entered, arms snaked around him and he hugged back. They were best friends or more like brothers by now. Right now he apprichiate the latter male so much.

"You doing better now?"

He let out a sigh, but at first not saying anything. He just needed to get his thoughts sorted. At some point, they were sitting on the bed and Gwaine having an arm this time around his shoulder.

"I told him I quit. I will stay here for a month and then come back. I hope that at least now he will apprichiate what I am doing. Of course, I hope that you don't mind this."

Gwaine chuckled and ruffled his hair.

"Nah, don't mind that your staying here. You can stay as long as you want to."

He grinned now and they started to talk more until Gwaine had to go back. He used now his spell which made him go invisible and watching everything happening. Merlin as well got some stuff from his room. This month was interesting and he could see that Arthur was having trouble without him.

---

So after the month had ended, he decided to show himself. It was around evening as he knocked on the door and entered the room.

His expression showed no emotion. Just a blank expression and Arthur was looking nervous at him now. It was clear why and he just hoped that Arthur finally got his point. When not, he would quit and just working with Gaius.

"Sire."

His voice was neutral and he could see the nervousness from the expression now. There was a silence for a moment or two until Arthur decided to break it.

"I am sorry. I realized how much you did and I realized that I went too far. I have a question, were you the one who always fend off the assassination attempts?"

His expression stayed the same and he hummed as he folded his arms together. At least, Arthur apologized. His head tilted to the side as he leaned now on the wall and watching Arthur look more nervous.

"Yes, so am I still useless in your eyes? I thought you saw me as a friend, and I really hope you learned your lesson."

His voice still showed no emotions and Arthur looked more unnerved by now. It was kind of fun to see him look like this.

"Yes, I heard that you actually know to fight. So I am wondering why, did you fake the ability of your real skill?"

His lips twitched up slightly and it was almost impossible not to smirk now. Arthur looked right now like a kicked puppy and he just couldn't be mad anymore.

"Yes, I decided to cut the acting. Don't get me wrong I am clumsy, but my skill with the sword and daggers is something that I am good at."

He shrugged as Arthur looked wide-eyed at him. He was planning to tell Arthur soon about his magic.

"I have a question, how do you feel about magic?"

Arthur was silent for a moment as he looked thoughtful. This was a question he needed to ask first before he could be sure that he wouldn't get burned on the stake.

"I don't think it is evil. It is Uther who thinks like this. Isn't magic like a weapon? Like Swords can harm someone as well and they aren't said to be evil. I don't think all sorcerer's or druids are bad. And magic can be used for something good or not?"

The answer made him blink and stare at Arthur and trying to see that maybe he is lying. But his eyes showed no lie. This made him smile softly and he had a new respect for Arthur. Even after his father said and drilled the -magic is evil and corrupts people- into his head, he still believes that magic is good.

"What would you do when someone you know is hiding as a sorcerer, warlock or druid? Will you arrest that person?"

Arthur was silent for a moment and stared now at him. Merlin was pretty sure that the male was slowly catching up to the reason of him asking.

"I would hide this secret and would not tell anyone. The person hasn't done anything evil. Although I wonder...are you trying to tell me in a subtitle way that you are a sorcerer?"

He chuckled as he tilted his head and looking at him into his eyes as saying...

"Who said I am a sorcerer? I could be a warlock."

A grin stretched soon on his lips and Arthur chuckled and let out a sigh.

"What is the difference? Both use magic or not?"

A snort escaped as he heard Arthur say this. Of course, he would think like this and it wasn't too much of a surprise.

"Nope, a warlock is born with magic. And yeah I am one. I had to be sure that you aren't like your father when it comes to magic. After all, we both know what would happen when he knows what I am."

Arthur looked at him not in disappointment nor in anger, but pure awe now. It was the kind of awe he hadn't seen Arthur show to other people. Or maybe he showed it, but not many times.

"Makes sense to me. At least now I know why suddenly branches fall on bandits, or people losing their swords or assassins suddenly falling unconscious. You got bigger respect now. When my father isn't alive anymore, I will make you head sorcerer and you get knighted."

This time it was his turn to awe. They talked a bit more and both had a better understanding now to each other. The next morning was like always, but a slight difference, the two were closer than ever. And both were almost never seen alone, after this. Where one was, was the other not too far away.
