It was no surprise that this would happen. His heart ached at him being carted outside of the place he slowly started to call his secondary home. That bastard of Uther had not even let him pack anything and it ended up with him having nothing on him.

Worse was that this had happened in the night were no one was there. He had been alone with unknown knights and he was lucky to be just banned out of Camelot. The only reason why was because of Arthur. It made him wonder how the king would explain this and knowing the prince he will feel betrayed and he would loose all chance to explain himself.

Hopefully Lancelot will explain it or Gaius to Arthur. That was all he could hope and now he was far out in the woods without anything that will warm him. Merlin had been that used to his friends that he never felt more alone.

There was no way that the person that was his other side will accept him. Nor will some of the knights. Gwaine for sure will never reject him, for that the other was fierce loyal and his best friend has no ties to Camelot.

He would as well have Lancelot and obvious his father figure Gaius and his mother, yet he could never get to his home town out of fear what would happen. Merlin knew that he had no one else and this pained him a lot. He feared that he would end up all alone and this was what he feared. His breath shuddered and he was just grateful that it was at the end of summer or else it would be worse.

Merlin knew that he needed to find a place to hide but where? He had no idea where he was and he was feeling unnerved. There was no way that he wouldn't be attacked, with how many times they had been attacked in their huntings.

A noise brought him out of his thought to see a deer with a youngling, curled into each other. The fawn tilted their head and he cooed at the adorable eyes that looked at him. Merlin was always good with animals and for once he was glad to have some company.

"Hi, I am not here to harm you." His voice soft and making sure to look as less threatning as possible.

The deer gave him a look up and down and then relaxing. It made him slowly move closer, until he was sitting down and letting his magic wash over them, leading for them to be hidden by many leaves. It for sure looked on the outside like a bush.

The deer gave a apprichiated noise and the fawn looked at him. It made him smile slightly, feeling a bit better now. At least he knew that he would be fine, after all he could find easily something to eat that were not meat. Don't get him wrong he had eaten occasionally meat but he just felt always guilty and sad about the death of whatever he ate. It was a reason why he never understood these hunts that Arthur, the others and him went.

Merlin's body felt exhausted and it was soon that he ended up falling asleep, lulled by the sounds of the woods surround him.

The next time he woke was when he felt something curled around him. His head was on something soft and he felt comfortable. There was some heartbeat to it and making him furrow his brows. When he fell asleep there was nothing this comfortable. This was why his eyes opened instantly, as rubbing his eyes sleepily.

His gaze went around and realizing that he wasn't just sleeping on the belly of the mother deer but having the fawn curled right next to them as well. It was making him smile in appreciation.

"Thanks you two." Merlin softly said and the two giving both a noise that made him smile more.

At least he had companions, even when they were no humans. He decided to stay with them, protecting the two as knowing that they would end up being hunted for sure. Merlin would stay until the fawn is an adult and then he would see what he should do.

A soft giggle escaped as feeling the tickle of the fawn playing with him. They most of the times running around and he always gets catched and ending up getting nibbled softly. The dear momma was usually watching them play and he was giving a lot of affection.

It seemed that they look at Merlin, as a fawn themself. Even when he was not a fawn but that was not mattering to her. He liked the two a lot. It was now almost two months and there had been another living with them now.

It was a fawn injured and all alone. This was why he took the fawn in and giving a sorrowful look over to the deer momma who was accepting the fawn and pepping it up. It was sweet and they would still take a few days before the male fawn would be better but he was sure that they would be.

His heart swelled in joy at the three cuddling close to each other and he loved the affection they all gave each other and him. Their fur was giving him at nights warm and he made their nest changed to something that would help them sleep in the winter.

It would had been hard to find food but he made sure to have enough food that would help them in the winter. Merlin knew that he would be fine. Another thing that he stopped giving any care about where he went to well do his business.

He cleaned it right up -with his magic instinctual doing it- whenever he had done it and the same was said to the other animals. It was strange at first but he got used to. There was as well him having no idea how to clean himself in the winter without water.

It was getting colder washing himself in the waters and he ended up wishing that he would be clean. His magic usually ended up acting upon it and this was how it was. Merlin hated that he had his book still at Camelot and got he was really lucky that he had hidden it somewhere that no one would see it, even making sure that the book stayed invisible and only by him being seen.

Merlin felt a bit off today and he knew that it was because of it slowly getting colder. Merlin was just glad that he got some fur to have it replicate and making the nest comfy and warmer.

A sneeze went out and he shivered as curling himself closer into the side of the momma deer. They were comfy warm and with the fur that he enlarged and wrapped around him, it made him feel warm enough. But he was pretty sure that he ended up sick.

A squeak noise brought him out of his thought and he blinked at this. Merlin had not even realized that something was tried to push into his mouth. When glancing down he was blinking owlishly at the squirrel (that has dark brown fur but the eyes had a dark forest green). Never had he seen a squirrel have that color.

"Hm?" He let out a questioned noise.

Merlin stopped slowly talking as he wasn't seeing any sense in it. They don't need words and he could communicate well enough with noises anyway.

"Sqeaaak." Whatever they want, made him open his mouth. Just to have some herbs pushed into his mouth.

Merlin had no idea how they knew what he needed up he guessed it has to do with him being magic. Him being that close to nature was another thing that made him realize. Either way he knew in his instincts that the squirrel found the right herbs.

Let's just say it took a three days for him to be better and since then more squirrels visited. But the green eyed one stayed with him. That little guy loved to play with his hair and he liked the attention that is given to him.

By now his hair is that long that it goes down in the middle of his back. It was weirdly clean but this probably has to do with the squirrel doing something to it. This almost feels as if they were using magic or something.

The hair was braided with either sometimes some greenery with flowers. In the winter it are flowers that are light yellow and blue. Sometimes even violet colored flowers in the winter. They always show first the flowers before putting them in his hair and he knew then that spring was getting closer. It suited but there was one big thing that even now exasperated him, they ended up hiding nuts or other things in his hair. It gave him probably an odd look.

It reminded him of the times when bandits trying to hunt in territory. A thing that he realized was that his magic was blooming in the nature and he loved it a lot. Merlin would protect the animals at least in his territory.

Just recently Merlin rescued a little cute blob of whatever they are. They were a dark indigo blue with eyes that are light blue with some specks of turquoise that held innocent. That little guy was adorable and stuck with him and letting out cute noises.

What he knew of this little guy is that they eat any leaves and that makes it so much easier. Wherever he went, the animals went with him and it seemed that he would never be alone any longer. Even when he had no one of the human's, he has his companions. At some point he even got an unicorn in their family.

But all things had to go bad. Merlin hadn't realized it yet but he was close, to Camelot and it showed as a particular familiar male with fluffy black hair and magic that he knew too well...
