Rain

A/N trigger warning, suicidal thoughts, someone who tried to do it, anxiety attacks etc. Though I mention this, with this hope you enjoy this one.

It had been a bad day for Merlin. Nothing went well. First, he had a flashback of Camelot's time, then he ended up arriving way too late to open his shop, next he spilled coffee on a guy that he bumped into, and then it started to rain badly.

All in all, he was not in a good mood and worse was that Arthur and he were not on good terms right now. They had a big argument about his magic, and him hiding this. Of course, the male understood why he hid this, but it did not mean that he was still not fully accepting this.

The reason was because of him accidentally stopping a flower pot from crashing down the ground and getting destroyed. Arthur, seeing this, stared for a few seconds before starting to tell him that he should have let the pot get destroyed instead of using it.

This caused him to be frustrated and one thing led to another and they soon were that much in an argument that it caused his magic to act and Arthur ended up with donkey traits. Meaning that the male was even more angered and he could never forget the blank look as he said he should leave.

It made his heart ache and he wanted to stay but left after getting yelled at. It was the reason why his mood was even worse two days later. It caused him to be absent-minded and end up messing with everything.

Another bad thing was that he could not even sleep well and nightmares plagued his mind. Merlin was pretty sure that he would not be able to sleep any time soon and ended up curling on his comfy couch chair, blanket wrapped around him, and reading a book.

His eyes dropped a few times, with the reading and the rain sounds it took not too long and soon he was asleep without him even realizing it.

The next thing that woke him up was something was wrong. It was his instincts screaming at him to leave, yet with his sleep befuddled mind, Merlin was too tired to care and fell asleep again. That was until he suddenly felt something wet reaching him.

His eyes cracked tiredly open and he stared blankly at the water that was filling the room. Merlin cursed his luck and with how tired he still felt there was no spell that came to his mind, nothing. All he could feel was the water that was starting to grow further up.

His heart was thundering and it was then that he pulled the blanket with him and his book, and rushed -as fast he could in the cold water- upwards to the attic. It was the one place that should be high enough.

Merlin cursed his luck and wanted to cry in frustration. This was not helping his mood and he was relieved that the things could just get reversed with a spell and everything would be a-okay. He swallowed the panic as being in the attic and closing the door. His mind went to Arthur and regret was big, knowing that he might end up finding out that he could not die.

There was no way that he could tell Arthur about his many deaths, both himself caused and by others. His heart ached and he sniffled as pulling the blanket around him and curled at the corner of the left.

His body shuddered and he felt the cold seep into him, not even with the blanket could help. Not really something that he was surprised about. His mind could not even think of one spell that he could use and so he stayed there shivering and hoping that nothing bad would happen.

His eyes dropped a few times, exhaustion catching up and wishing that he would be away somewhere safe...

"-lin?" A familiar voice of a male made him wonder why this person sounded horrified and concerned.

"Come on Merlin wake up, please." This time it was making known where he heard that voice and making him want to talk even less. His brows furrowed and decided to ignore Arthur, even when he sounded this way.

"Okay...okay, guess have to uh what do I do?" It was clear that the male was panicking.

"Sir, what is going on?" Another familiar voice caused him almost opened his eyes as he knew that this voice belonged to Leon.

"Leon, call a doctor here and tell him to hurry."

"Of course, it should take a few minutes. Just don't move him as we don't know how badly injured he is."

He felt guilty as he did worry others, yet at the same time, he felt numb, not caring much about his health. Maybe this was why he was not moving and curling more into himself, as snuggling into the comfortable blanket that was around him. There was also something soft under his head.

Merlin did not know what had happened but the next time he woke up he was under something soft, that he was sure was a mattress and laying on a pillow. His eyes cracked open and it took him a moment to realize that he was not where he should be.

The next thing that he realized was that his body was sore and a headache was felt too. Eyes looking around the room and it was looking somewhat like a room in Camelot. With stone walls, a fireplace -that had a fire lit in it- a chair and table out of mahogany wood and the ceiling adorned painted dark blue flowers on each corner and the rest a white paint. All in all, this reminded him of Camelot.

His heart ached at the reminder and decided to slip out and figure out a way to leave. The reason was because of him being for sure at the home of Arthur. At least that was what he assumed after the memory of his half-awakened state that he remembered.

As he slipped out and stood up, he stumbled on the ground feeling suddenly way weaker than he thought he was. Even after trying to stand up, his body was not willing to and made him swallow the lump that was in his throat as he felt the tears build up.

All in all, Merlin felt emotional at the thought of the argument they got and wanted nothing more than to leave. Yet in this state he was, Merlin could not even do anything without help. Tears started to roll down with sniffles as he tried to stop the tears from flowing.

Nor could stop the sobs that wracked through his body. Merlin wanted nothing more than to hide from everything. Not just hiding but wanting this to be over with. By now he was sobbing and trying to curl himself into a ball. It worked semi, as he barely could move.

"Of course-" Arthur's voice held in after probably seeing the state he was in and he knew the male would probably scold him, yet had not done so and made him wonder what would now happen.

"Merlin, come on breath with me, can you do that?"

The soft-spoken tone was making him let out a shuddered breath as he could not stop this nor could he calm down. Which was probably why Arthur let out a sigh and pulled him into a hug. At first, he stiffened, but then relaxed as continued crying on the other, feeling too distressed not to let the other calm him down.

"Now that you're calmer, what happened?" It was softly asked and made him know that the other was right now genuinely caring for him.

It caused him to sniffle and blurt out how much he felt guilty about everything and that he did not want to have caused any harm. Nor had he wanted to use magic towards his crush. The other let out a sigh and carried him back to the bed as sitting down with him curled on the side and the other going soothingly through his hair.

"I know. I am sorry too and should have known that you would hide things from me. It's your rights and well Leon was calling me out on it." The other let out a sigh after saying this and relaxing more, knowing that Arthur was not going to be any longer mad.

The two continue talking and at some point, Arthur helps him with eating to his embarrassment. Even more embarrassing was when he had to be carried to the toilet. Yet it also warmed his heart to know that the other was helping him.

Something that came unexpectedly, but still made him happy. It took three days for him to feel better and afterward they talked some more about what they were, as Arthur had more than once kissed his temples or in general showered him with attention. Since then they were even closer and it seems that his feelings were the same then Arthur's.
