1000 years...
He thought he could do this. Merlin really did, but it was not possible not to get depressed. How could he not? The person he loved died and even when it had been old age, he couldn't help but watch helplessly him taking his last breath.Since then not once had he smiled. Not once had he showed joy. He just lived a day in and day out. Watching illnesses killing people, watching wars plague, and kill people. Even serial killers he watched. It wasn't that he did nothing but, he couldn't really do much and he felt helpless.
It was making him feel numb down. Up to this point, he wasn't even feeling much anymore. That was why he probably starting to self harm himself. Just to feel something. Anything instead of this numb feeling. The only way to get some feeling back.
He wasn't eating well, nor had he slept well. His heart longed for his king, best friend, and crush. Longed for this person to appear but even after a thousand years nothing. He was a farmer and it brought him some income, but it was straining.
So he breathed out and putting out a job description maybe someone would help him out. Because he really wasn't sure that he could do this any longer. Not when he felt that exhausted and that weakened. He still looked like he worked out, but it was clear that he really needed help. From his sunken tired eyes, the black circles under them and the pale skin was enough to tell that he wasn't well. The nightmares were mostly at fault there. It was just that he had nightmares badly from what he saw.---
A yawn was stifled at hearing the alarm clock at 5 am. It was blaring into his ears and he hated this. Yet he knew that he would have to wake up. The button was pressed, and he let out a sigh knowing that he had just one-hour sleep today.
So, he slowly slipped out of his covers and starting to get to his routine. First changing into his clothes, then milking the cows, afterward giving them food. Chickens and his two roosters were next were he scattered the food. This continued on and he felt even more exhausted.
Sally his dog was barking, and he glanced down and petting the dog now. A person entered and he stared at the Leon look alike. The person paused for a moment before walking up to him.
"Good day, I was wondering is the job still open?" Even his voice was the same and blinked, rubbing his eyes but the person still was in front of him.
"Uh, yes of course." He paused again and still startled about this. "We can talk inside my house for this." His voice was friendly, but he was really too tired for this."Lead the way then. I am Leon Manor." The person was a friend and he wasn't sure what to think of this but lead the person towards his house.
"I am Merlin, nice to meet you."
Two coffees but in front of them and he started to explain what his job would be, as well what Leon had worked before.
"Everything seems good to me. You can start as soon as you want to. The payment would be variedly from how much our goods get sold." His voice was apologetic, and Leon gave him a soft smile.
"It's fine, you really seem to need the help. My roommate works as well so we shouldn't be too short on money." His voice was reassuring, and he nodded just at this. Then he was alone again and starting to scream and walk around like a headless chicken.
What the hell? This had been Leon and he just couldn't help but feel really startled and unsure what to think. Then a sigh was given and he starting to work again. Until late evening, with the same bed routine.---
This continued on with Leon working but his sleeping habit wasn't changed. Nor his eating habits eater. Not the best thing, because of this a week after he got really badly sick.
Feverish, a massive headache, stomach churned, dizziness, and cold yet warm heat waves were over him. Even his throat was killing him. But he still went on working, until Leon came. The male looked at him one minute straight and then starting to drag him inside.
His body too weak to even really fight back. The male pushed him back on his bed and starting to scold him and he got forced to stay in bed. Not something that he wanted, and he had still a job to do. So, what does anyone with common sense do...(Nope no common sense usage there) well sneaking out and starting to work."What the hell is this bloody baffoon doing? I thought you said he was sick?" A masculine exasperated voice asked this. Slowly he turned around and seeing Leon look at him with the same exasperation.
Well, his eyes stared at Arthur look-alike and before he knew what happened, he blanked out...---
Something cool was over his head and he felt nudged now. This was making his eyes blearily opened and blinked as seeing the Arthur look-alike having something in his hands.
"You know, Merlin even after all these years you stay a bloody moron. What did I tell you about working when being sick?" His voice was exasperated yet fondness clearly heard. With this, he knew that this person was him. So, he opened his mouth and all that went out was a few coughs."Don't even bother talking right now. Your throat should be too sore to even talk. You made it even worse now with working instead of staying in bed as I told you to do." Leon scolded now softly, and he pouted but not saying much.
"Alright, let's first get you to eat something and then some medicine for your cold." He heard Arthur say and all he could do was nod and slowly sitting up. Even when his body protested right now.
"My name this time is Sheldon Milton." This was added afterward, and he nodded but couldn't help but snort at this. Not a good idea because his throat was starting to throb.
"That was why we said not to use your voice, moron." An amused yet concerned voice was heard and he puffed his cheeks out and giving him a look that told him 'your fault cabbage head.'"I can even hear what you're trying to say," Arthur said in the same tone than before and shook his head fondly. He ended up getting fed and it was embarrassing. But what made both people look concerned when seeing the amount, he ate. It was not even half of it and he never really ate much the past few- he doesn't even remember when he ate more than this food.
"Okay, after your back to health, we are so going to talk about that destructive behavior." His voice sounded serious now and he shrunk down because they see. They saw now his cuts that he just recently made. So, he nodded and falling asleep again. But like before he ended up with nightmares. They woke him up and he ended up not sleeping well. Up to the point that he wasn't going back to sleep. Until Arthur ended up pulling him into his chest and going through his hairs.
Slowly he fell asleep and for once he had no nightmares. The first time for many years even year hundreds, no nightmares...---
It took an entire week to get him back to health. It was then that he had to talk about this all and he felt nervous but explained everything. It was like a weight that was lifted. The male pulled him into a hug, and it was the first small -yet real- smile he had shown since his death.
It showed that Arthur cared and as well cared when he helped him through this week. They even talked about their feelings and the two ended up finally together. But it would still be a long and rocky road before he would get better, but he had finally Arthur back and that was all that mattered.
