Merthur/Merlin one shot

Arthur is a mind reader 2

It was now three months later since he got control over his mind-reading magic. It was like any other day. And like any other day, there was something happening. Arthur wasn't even sure what to think or what to do. So a new king was with her princess here. And it shouldn't be something unusual, wouldn't it be for her thoughts. The thoughts were disturbing for him. Like she wasn't after him but after Merlin. Any other day he would shrug it off or in the past, he would have. Wouldn't he know that these were her thoughts? He would play it off as his imagination, but now that he had that magic, he couldn't just simply shrug it away. He found out that he hadn't just the ability to mind-read, but he could use magic as any other sorcerers could.

'I want him to beg for mercy and when he is on my mercy I will slowly kill him, hihihi.'

That laugh at the end was making him shudder, but he couldn't do anything as long as he wasn't catching her red-handed. And the worst part was that his father gave her the reign to choose any of servants. Which was why he was now on the inside really freaking out. 

'I know how I- oh, someone is hearing my thoughts...'

Nancy was her name and he wasn't liking Nacy one bit. After this, he couldn't hear any thoughts, even when he tried. So he had the feeling that she knows magic or is using a protection pendant to stop him from reading. That was why he send Merlin his thoughts.

'Merlin, be careful, Nancy is after your life.'

Merlin stiffened for a moment but relaxed instantly. The said young adult was now warned and he knew that Nancy won't get too far away with this. Or he thought...

It was in the middle of the night and he woke up by someone screaming bloody murder in his mind. This was of course, not why he woke up, but because this was Merlin's thoughts. 

'I swear to god, I am going to effing kick you in the effing balls when you don't EFFING WAKE UP ARTHUR FUCKING PENDRAGON!'

He jumped up a bit at the sudden loudness in his mind. The two had a close bond so that Merlin could communicate even when he wasn't near him. Which was why he was feeling nervous now.

'Jesus, you scared the living hell out of me. What happened?'

Arthur almost thought that Merlin was now asleep again, until a minute later he heard him in his mind groan. A groan he could distinct out of pain and as well as panic. It was not something he expected.

'Arthur, get here n-now, N-Nacy shes...'

It sounded different now, and he could even hear the fear and pain in his voice, and it was so soft and shaky. His breath shuddered to fear for the life of Merlin. That was why he rushed out and concentrating on where Merlin was. Which he could do thanks to him feeling his magic. The magic of his manservant was lashing out badly. And he could feel from his magic that the fear was rolling out and as well pain. It seemed that he wasn't the only one who got awoken, Gaius as well.

"Sire, what are you awake? And isn't it a bit too cold just being shirtless?"

At the mentioning of his bare chest, he felt the cool air, but it wasn't that cool. Right now it was early summer so that it was relatively pleasant.

"I am fine. Let me guess you are feeling his magic as well and his emotional state?"

Gaius stared at him and he realized that the said male hadn't known about him having magic and that he could read other people's minds.

"Questions can be answered later on, Gaius."

'Merlin are you still there?'

Nothing. Now his alarm bells rang, knowing that Merlin wasn't conscious anymore. The two males started to sprint this time and they ended up having to enter the forest. Both had eye contact for a moment and he wasn't liking this one bit.

"Do you think she...?"

Gaius had his lips pressed together and he could tell that he was having a concerned expression. And when they were there he gaped. This was something that he couldn't imagine, and to make it worse than Nancy wasn't alive. Like she was dead, but the worst part was that Merlin right now was chained and unconscious. The young adult's clothes were ripped like many cuts littering around him. Which made his blood just boil. But he knew that he needed to have a calm mind. As in front of him were bandits. Gaius and him were hiding and he let out a shuddered breath. 

"We could sell him. Someone with raven hair and blue eyes will sell a lot. Even with ears like this."

His blood went cold at this and he narrowed his eyes. No one. And he means no one will get away at doing this to his manservant -no scratch this- his best friend. Not as long as he could stop this.

'Gaius I give you the alright to use magic. Use any means to stop these bandits, even when you have to kill them.'

The said adult had wide eyes and he gave him eyes once again that told Gaius that they will talk later on. Right now they had a bigger issue than Gaius knowing that he had magic.

'Understood sire. But you better explain when we have Merlin back.'

A curt nod he gave as an answer and the two started to use magic. They both had their backs and ended up defeating them quickly. A sigh escaped as he rushed over. He winced a bit when seeing the battered body of Merlin. The chains were broken by his magic and he picked him up. His brows furrowed at how light he felt. Arthur noted this on his mind. He would try from now get Merlin to eat at least breakfast with him.  Both were silent as they were going back to Gaius's place. He heard Merlin's breath shudder, which wasn't making it easy for him. It made him just want to destroy these bastards once again.

"Lay him down there."

He nodded and slowly put him down. Gaius stared at him for a moment, but soon the attention shifted back to the unconscious male. He heard him whisper something under his breath and he saw the cuts slowly healing. He knew that he was now using magic and he couldn't care less. Merlin was more important that this dumb law his father put up.

"Would it be fine for me to take Merlin with me to my chambers? I will explain this in the morning. Just...need to have him near me or I won't have a good night's rest."

Gaius was silent for a moment and from his thoughts process, he could tell that the male was thinking deeply about it. Until he let out a sigh and a soft expression was on his face.

"Alright, he should be fine. At least physically, but mentally I am not quite sure yet."

That made sense to him and that was why he had to have Merlin near him. One thing was clear to him that he would never let Merlin alone anymore and never would he let the male work for a different Nobel. There was no way and he will have to talk to his father about this. Merlin was his manservant, by now even a good friend and there was no way that he would from now on let this happen again.

"Don't worry. I will have an eye on him tomorrow."

Gaius nodded and he excused himself as carrying Merlin in his arms. He put the male under the cover and slipping into it as well. Merlin was still asleep and unmoved other than the breathing which he heard. So that he decided to take the younger male in a secured hug.
