Oh god, Merlin was so screwed. Like royally screwed. It was just a small prank, but Gaius found out and now he was running away and avoiding the said male at all cost. God, he had never seen him that furious with him. Of course, he shouldn't have pranked Gaius but he was too tempted. Well, what prank he pulled? Merlin pushed him into the water. And Gaius had heard him and saw his eyes change color and now he was running away.
Still, he wasn't regretting it. The face he saw when he realized he was suddenly in water was too hilarious. He snickered again and had eyes looked around. So far he managed to void him. Sometimes he just itched to prank people and when there is an opportunity like this, he just had to. Even when there will be consequences.
Almost half this day he managed to avoid Gaius and he was feeling bad for Arthur as he knew that the male wouldn't be pleased with him for not doing his work or not helping changing his clothes. But he wasn't wanting to get the wrath of an angry Gaius. But all good things had to get to an end.
And that end, happened when he ended up bumping into someone. He plopped onto the ground with a startled yelp. His eyes widen as he swallowed thickly, thinking that he bumped into the person he didn't want to meet.
"Finally, you buffoon. I was searching everywhere for you. Don't you have work to do?"
He let out a shuddered breathe which he hadn't realized that he was holding in.
"Sorry, I pulled a prank on Gaius and now he really furious with me. Please hide me from him."
Merlin looked pleading up to Arthur with puppy eyes. He knew that the male would help out. He felt himself being lifted up and saw him look amused at him.
"Fine, let's head to my chamber and what did you do?"
He grinned now as the two started to head towards his friend's sleeping chamber.
"Let's just say he ended up in the lake. I couldn't resist and I don't regret it at all. You should have seen his gob stricken face."
He snickered and again. Arthur let out a snort and shook his head in amusement. It was precisely when they entered the room that Gaius went inside as well.
"Merlin."
He said his voice in a threatening manner and he hides behind Arthur and his body shook slightly. Right now he probably looked like a scared puppy.
"How dare you to use magic on me to pull that prank. I am not pleased and get here now."
He froze and he felt Arthur stiffen now. When he peeked out he saw that Gaius froze.
"Shit, I uh-...."
Arthur turned around and he slowly backed away. That wasn't how he wanted Arthur to know that he had magic. Merlin's eyes started to wide and he felt a panic bubble in him. Uther wasn't alive anymore, but he couldn't be sure about what Arthur would do.
"Is this true? Did Gaius tell the truth? Are you really a sorcerer, Merlin?"
A shudder went through his body and he swallowed hard. Gaius's expression changed now to horror and concern was seen in his expression. He couldn't blame him for blurting this out of his anger. It was his fault, as he had it coming from using Magic. Gaius always warned him and now he messed up deeply.
"I- uh- yes. But I am not a sorcerer but a warlock. I am sorry, that I haven't told you..."
His voice was quivering in fear and the fear was as well seen on his face. Now that he looked at Arthur he saw not anger, but disappointment, which was worse than anger in his eyes.
"Gaius get out. Leave us alone."
He saw Arthur turn his head towards Gaius who had a thin line on his lips, but nodding.
"Understood, sire. But don't be too harsh. Merlin just means well and would never use magic for anything evil. You should know this by now."
He bowed a bit and left them alone, with the door closing softly after his father figure. Slowly he started to back more away, as he felt more and more panic bubble in his gut. Will he be banished out of Camelot? Will he end up getting burned at the stakes?
"Why? Why didn't you trust me? Why did you hide this from me?"
The voice was full of betrayal and sorrow. It cut deep in his core and he felt like crying now.
"I-..."
He started to swallow once more and slowly tears started to build up. Merlin couldn't talk. It was as his throat was getting tight. Footsteps approached him and he was backing out more until he ended up hitting a dead end at the wall behind him. Why can't he breathe? His legs gave up and he ended up sitting on the ground.
"Merlin, shit."
He could hear the voice of Arthur. Who was now rushing over and scooping into a hug?
"You need to breathe, Merls."
All that he could do was shake his head and gasping for air. By now he clung onto Arthur.
"Shit. What do I do?"
He felt more lightheaded by now and Arthur was trying to get him to breathe, but nothing worked. By now there were some dark spots appearing in his eyesights. Soon he knew he would pass out.
There was suddenly the feeling of air in his lungs. And next thing he realized was something soft on his lips. His eyes met with other blue eyes. Soon the lips left and he blinked as his brain came to a screeching halt.
Cheeks felt burning and he opened his mouth but closing it again. It took him a moment to realize that he got kissed by the good looking Arthur. The one he fell in love with, but never managed to get to tell him his feelings to the said male.
"Merlin, you doing alright now?"
All he could muster was a nod. His mind wasn't working well and he couldn't get anything out.
"You sure that you are alright? And I am sorry. I didn't mean to freak you out."
The tone was soft and apologetic, as well some concern heard in it. This made blink and he nodded trying to get his mind to work again.
"S-so -um- why?"
Arthur smiled softly now as he gave him a ruffle through his hair. His cheeks flushed and it warmed to see him smiling at him like this.
"Because I am in love with you."
Why would he still love him? Wasn't he not liking magic? Wasn't he thinking as his father that magic was evil?
"B-but I am a warlock..."
His voice was soft as he said this, and he looked anywhere else then Arthur. A sigh was heard.
"Isn't warlock the same thing then sorcerer. Even when you have magic, you aren't evil. You are one of the kindest and loyalist people I have ever met. You stayed even when knowing the risk."
This made his head snap up and looking at Arthur, who by now was sitting right next to him. But with some distance between them.
"It's not the same. I was born with it. For me, it's like breathing. It's like for you to have to stop using your sword. And you really...-um- really d-don't hate me?"
Arthur flicked his forehead and huffing out as he saw him fold his arms together. He rubbed the spot of Arthur flicking his forehead, with a pout now.
"I could never hate you. I don't care that you have magic. I had thought about making magic legal many times. Now I have at least a good reason for making it legal. You could be one who would be the head sorcerer or warlock's."
That was something that made him look at him with wide eyes. Soon he realized what Arthur said.
"G-god, how didn't think of you liking me back. You sure that you want that?"
He asked once again, as he had to make sure. Arthur chuckled and soon Merlin beamed and tackled the older male in a hug.
"Thank you! Thank you so much, you don't know how much that means to me!"
His voice held euphory and he felt the latter's male hug him back. Merlin was sure that everything would turn out alright, and he really would have to thank Gaius for blurting his secret out. Who would have thought that the day started with him pranking his father figure and ended with Arthur having the same feeling, kissing him and changing the law soon?
"I love you, you Cabbage head."
"Love you too, you moron."
