Merthur/Merlin one shot

Omega Arthur

Merlin knew something was not right with Arthur. Obviously, it had to do with the king that had just recently died. Arthur was clearly in distress yet even then, it seemed that the suppressants that Merlin was sure that the now king took, made him wonder what secondary gender the male was. Even when he never told him that, there was this feeling and he knew how unhealthy they were. Worse was when the person that took them, was forgotten or sometimes didn't hold on any longer, the heat or rut would come worse than before.

Clearly, he was thinking of an Alpha yet at the same time there were his inner instincts that pointed to something else. Something that he did not know what to do with. Yet that thought of Arthur maybe being an Omega made his inner Alpha and himself furious.

Because he knows that Uther had his hands on that then and he will make it clear to Arthur that taking them has to be over. He could not continue doing this to his body. It was not healthy and worried him a lot.

Worse was that he knew that people had this stigma towards Omega's which pissed not just him but his Alpha off. An Omega can work and do things that Alpha's can do as well. Just because they can carry children, doesn't mean that they are just there for that.

A reason why he was protective of any Omega that is his friends. They were not often treated rightly. Gwen was one, and he was pretty sure some of the knights like Percy are too. Yet because of this stigma, it was for sure not possible to get knighted. A reason why many hid this.

A sigh went out as he observed Arthur starting to try and find an animal to kill. He still did not get why anyone would enjoy going on a hunt. Then again people always seemed to find him an oddball under the Alphas. This was probably why some Alphas did not like him. After all, he had countless times protected Omegas from those that wished to harm Omegas.

"Arthur, I don't think with how distracted you are, that you will be able to hit one." He decided to interrupt knowing exactly that the male was too distracted for whatever reason.

Then his nose picked up something. It had a sweet fragrance. One that reminded him of a mix between something Vanille and flowery. A scent that suddenly came and in an instant his inner Alpha realized something before he did.

Our Omega, protect

"Shit." Arthur cursed out and he could now see that the male was breathing rather faster.

He on the other hand felt a bit nervous now. Arthur was an Omega and the issue was that the male was going into heat. It was so typical that it had to happen on their hunt. Merlin swore under his breath and wondered why they could not have one hunt without something happening.

"We should head back to Camelot." He suggested to Arthur but the male shook his head and the scent got stronger.

"Nope, will not work." Arthur grimaced and he took a deep breath as his inner Alpha was urging him to bring him to their rut place.

"Okay, so don't be alarmed and I will explain after your heat, and hope you trust me." He could not help but feel nervous and by now Arthur was almost fully into heat. Making him know that bringing his Omega to Camelot would not go well.

"My Alpha, need you..." It was mumbled and he took another deep breath and decided to take Arthur to his rut place.

Merlin walked over and picked Arthur up, who purred and rubbed his face into his neck making him smile slightly. His inner Alpha was as pleased about this and then they vanished in a flower whirlwind and appeared at his rut place.

As soon as they were there, he carefully put Arthur down, who whimpered and made him let out a groan knowing how bad the heat would be. His hand waved around and the place was now protected by any Alpha that was not him. No one would be able to enter and that for a good reason.

Arthur was in heat and there was no way that he would let anyone take advantage of him. This was another difference between other Alphas and him. He never lost control when he smelled an unmarked Omega in heat, in his village and he always protected them.

A reason why no one had ever tried after the first time he had protected an Omega. Since then he was respected and even with him having magic. Yet there were some of those that are not pleased that he did not let them on an unmarked Omega. Merlin always made sure that those Omega's chosen and Alpha that treats them right.

It was a known fact and even in Camelot people knew that he was protective of any Omega that he was friends with. Even those that he did not know, were protected by him in their heat. No Alpha managed to get into the house, as he made it impossible to break the door.

That was probably why Uther had let this happen, knowing that he would even fight the king when he had to. It was a known fact that he was taking no one bullshit. A reason why he was even in Camelot respected for this. This also was the change of Omega's starting to tell Alpha's off and those that tried to use their voice forcing those had ended up with a broken nose.

"My Alpha please, please need you."

He instantly went over to his Omega and smiled softly as helping the male into comfortable clothes, that he had there specifically when he would have at some point his Omega. These clothes were self-fittable.

"Alpha, why don't you want me." The sad tone made him count to ten because he would do something that his Omega would regret. Merlin did not want Arthur to be hurt by him. As he knew that Arthur could not consent at all.

"My Omega, I would but you can't consent. But don't worry I will take care of you." He softly reassured and his Omega looked at him with sad eyes and then nodded.

Merlin knew that this will be a long few days for sure.

"Hm?" He slowly woke up feeling a pair of eyes on him.

As opening his eyes he blinked at seeing Arthur stare with wide eyes at him and full blow blush. He smiled softly at this and gave him a reassuring look. As he was sure that this was embarrassing for Arthur. But he did not look mad at him, and that was at least a good thing.

"Why did you help me out?"

"Arthur, really?" He deadpanned giving him an eyebrow raise.

"What? Tell me why?"

"Because you are my Omega and I can't just force myself on you. It would not be right and you should know better than this." He hissed out feeling slightly hurt by this.

"That is not what I mean, Merlin and we both are compartible." The tone was horrified and he glanced at Arthur who gave him an offended look and made him realize that he must have misunderstood this. 

"I um what now?"

"You decide, I don't care what your choice is, but stop taking suppressants. They do more harm than good." Merlin pointed out and Arthur let out a sigh and glanced at him before looking down.

"That would not be good, and you know why."

"Do I look like I can't see what other Alpha think of Omega's?"

He gritted out in anger. Not at Arthur but at those injustices and giving a pointed look at Arthur who winced. After all, he was not letting anyone treat his Omega badly, and that would be a thing that Arthur should know.

"But what should I do? There is no way that people will not riot."

"Arthur, do you really think that those that care for you, think of you less because of your secondary gender?" He asked a rhetorical question and Arthur cracked a small smile that made him grin.

"Neither am I and I told you before, all unmarked Omega friends are under my protection and you are my Omega. Those that think that they can force you, have to go through me first." He gave a look that told Arthur that he would fight anyone that would do this and Arthur relaxed more.

"Your right. What am I worried about? I am not alone and I know for a fact that people respect me and me as a well King or should I say Queen would show change."

"Good, but do not announce this yet. Wait until all of our friends will know of this." Merlin warned and Arthur nodded.

At least now he was sure that his Omega would stop taking the suppressants and hopefully this would end up well, even when. Arthur was not going to go through this alone, that much he would make sure off.
