It was a while since he had sent Merlin on a mission. Obviously, he knew that the other was capable of taking care of himself, even when he had worried a lot of times when he has sent been on these missions.
But this time the danger was massive and he worried that the other man would not come back. A reason why he was walking around and trying not to panic. Trying not to think of the worse, even when it was now almost 2 days.
Merlin would for sure come back soon, but he also felt fearful for his subordinate. Even at times, he was annoyed, but he could never hold the emotions, with how he started to feel fondly for the idiot. A sigh went out and he didn't know exactly what to do.
Merlin had always been someone that didn't bring the reports on time. It irked him and that's probably why the baffoon has done it. Either way, it was still strange not to hear anything from the other. After all, Merlin always tells Gwaine or any of their friends.
Arthur might be the boss of the group, but he still was friends with them. Not that he ever would say it out loud. Showing signs of care will be the downfall. He was the boss and needed to stay calm and collected, but the people that were working under him knew that he cared for them.
Not that he had said it out loud. The teasing that he would receive was a reason why he did not and it would just cause danger for everyone."Uh, boss?" Leon's voice cut through his thought process and something told him that it was bad.
"Yes, what is it?"
"You remember how I said that this mission might not go well?"
He winced at the tone that was used and clearly Leon was right. He was not the only one that had a bad feeling about this, anyone that knew of this mission felt it and he did too. But hearing that question caused him to dread what he would hear from the other.
"Merlin is well..." It was apparent that the other tried to think of how to say what happened to the one person that might annoy him but he grew so fond of him that everyone started to bet on how long it would take for them to be an item, to the chagrin of Arthur. How they knew about how much he cared for the other: Arthur would never know."What did the idiot do this time." He huffed out and on the inside, he could feel the concern grow at the grim expression that was given.
"He's well uh there is a talk about him being dead and well we found a bloodied scarf of his but not Merlin." It was answered and he could feel the horror and pale of this.
"For fuck sake. Merlin really can't stop giving me gray hair, does he?" He muttered under his breath and the thought of the other dying gave him such heartache that he was suspecting that he had some feelings for the other man, not that he was that sure about.
"Trust me Gwaine has said almost the same thing. But the thing is that whatever happened is not good. I fear that he might be dead or worse caught."
A groan went out at this and he started to curse. Why can't Merlin for once not end up kidnapped and almost dying? He almost was tempted to never let him go out of his sight.
"Guess we have to go and do another rescue mission." A huff went out.
"Got it, boss. I am guessing you are helping?" This was more of a rhetorical question and both knew this. Because both of them knew that he would come with them.
He was one of the only people who would calm Merlin down, as Gwaine was on a mission himself and he still did not know how he could calm the dumbass down."Of course, who else would hold him in check." He grumbled out, but Leon knew that he was as worried as the others were and not going to show it. The only times that he was open with his emotions were with Merlin, his sister, and sometimes Gwen.
"Alright, I am going to get everyone ready." With this Leon left the room and him hoping that they would not be too late.
