Merlin couldn't deal with all this anymore. Everything got too much. The person he loved got killed and to make it worse he could even have stopped her death. Then his father ended up dying in front of him. To make this even worse Arthur had told him that he isn't worth his tears. So he pushed his feelings aside. He wasn't wanting to bother Arthur or Gwaine. Nor would he want to bother Gaius. Maybe that was a mistake. Bottling emotions was not a good idea and he would soon realize why.
The day started hectic. More than usual as there was a harvest festival and of course there would be royals so here he was running around not without a break. Helping Arthur, then Gaius, other servants even the cooks. And god was he getting more fed up with everyone.
He hadn't even realized how much he was fed up. And his bottled emotions came more and more up. And it got more and more difficult for him to push them back. Not even once had he heard thanks from no one. Not even Gaius, but he knew that the male was too busy to realize, but it still hurt him. He had done so much. Was it too much to ask for one thank you? Just for someone. It didn't matter from who.
He was carrying the washed clothe in a basket and ending up bumping into someone in a hurry. He yelped as he landed on his butt and the clothes flew in the air and then on the ground. He cursed under his breath and let out a sigh.
"Sorry, sire."
He hadn't even realized who he bumped into and just stood up and picking up the clothes in a rush. It was then that he realized that it was Gwaine who looked at him with worry.
"I should be sorry as well. But more importantly, you doing alright?"
He nodded as he picked up the basket and hurrying towards Arthur's chamber, knowing that he had to hurry. He was fed up by this point and god was he wanted to just break down and sobbing. But he couldn't as he still had so much more work to do. As he entered he saw Arthur looking at him with displeasure. This ended up with him feeling his heart sting and he flinched slightly.
"Did you clean my armor yet."
Merlin realized that now what he forgot to do and was getting more anxious now. God, he will end up getting yelled at. He hated when Arthur yelled at him, by now they were friends, but sometimes he was an inconsiderate prat like right now.
"I am sorry, sire. I forgot."
He mumbled and looking everywhere else then Arthur. The said male was silent for a moment until he heard a sigh and then him saying...
"Can't you do something right for once? I told you over and over again that you should clean my armor, but no. You were probably not even doing anything remotely."
Something snapped in him. He felt like someone had shattered his heart in a million pieces. At first, he was frozen, soon he felt something wet on his cheeks. The basket slipped out of his hand with a thud, as the first sob started to escape. He sniffed and turned around, as running out of the door. He couldn't do this anymore.
He ended up running outside of the Camelot and running inside the forest. Right now he was so done and he couldn't deal with all this. Merlin hadn't even realized that he was running outside of Camelot.
That was until he realized that he tripped on a big root. It wasn't enough that everyone always wants something from him and he never gets a thank you or a, please. It wasn't enough that he ended up getting yelled at by Arthur, but now he had to tripped.
This was the last straw for Merlin. And so he sobbed more now as he felt his wrist sting. His knee was in pain, his elbows and his chin was as well stinging painfully. So the only logical thing he has done was rolling himself in a ball and rocking back and forth and sobbing uncontrollably.
