Merthur/Merlin one shot

Toddler

Arthur had to look twice at his door entrance. It was in the middle of the night and he couldn't believe what he just saw. In front of him was a toddler. The toddler had the same short raven hair, the same big ears and blue eyes stared innocently up. His brows furrowed now, and he crouched down.

"Hey little guy did you get lost?"

The boy looked still up at him and frowned first. A head tilted was given and confusion was seen.

"No not lost."

He nodded at this but why would a toddle come to him then? And how had he ended up here? There were guards there. So how? Arthur decided to pick up the toddler and closing the door behind him. The boy squealed in delight and a giggle was heard too. God was that adorable.

"Well then, can you tell me your name?"

By now he was back at his bed and sitting on it. The boy was sitting on his lap and staring up at him with awe.

"Mewin and you mistew awe pwetty."

He blinked, opened his mouth but closing it again. This was Merlin? His manservant. As a toddler. What the hell is going on?

"Alright, Merlin nice to meet you. I am Arthur. Do you remember anything?"

The king wasn't sure what to do with that situation and so all he could hope was that he could get some answer out of the small child in his arms. Merlin was always adorable but this was killing him. God was a toddler Merlin too cute.

"No dunno what happened."

He nodded at this and not sure what his next move should be. Maybe he should get to Gaius and maybe he could get him to find out what happened.

"Alright then. How about we make a visit to Gaius."

The toddler awed and nodded speedily. A chuckled went over him and he couldn't help but smile softly at the small child in his arms. He picked him up and put him on his shoulder. The toddler once again squealed in delight and giggled again. Dang it, Merlin can't he be any more adorable.

"Put your arm around my neck so that you want fall down."

Smaller arms wrapped themselves around his neck and he started to stand up and walking out of his chamber. It took him 5 minutes to get there and he thrown the door open.

"Gaius, I need help. Merlin is a toddler and I just don't know how it happened."

A yelp was heard from the bed on the left and soon a male sat up and staring at him with both disbelief and confusion.

"Hewo am Mewlin."

He mused a bit and couldn't help but smile now. It was impossible not to smile with a toddler Merlin. Even with the older one it was nearly impossible but a toddler one was impossible not to smile.

"Wh-okay how in gods name did this happen?"

A sigh was what escaped, and he shrugged. The toddler on his shoulder was giggling again.

"You two funny."

Another sigh escaped, and he saw Gaius pinch the prink of his nose. There was a pause now coming from the older man.

"I will try to find out how he ended up like this, but I can't take care of a toddler. You do know that I will need to use magic."

This made him just nod. Of course, he knew this and of course he knew that this was probably the only thing that could bring him back.

"Yes. And you have the alright to use whatever would be necessary to bring him back."

Gaius nodded and he turned around walking to his chambers. Oh well, taking care for a toddler won't be too difficult. They ended up sleeping in the same bed.
