Merthur/Merlin one shot

The knights of the round table play matchmaker

Merlin had no idea how to react to this and he was confused with as well. It wasn't something new that Gwaine was jokingly flirting with him but other knights now? Even Leon and Lancelot how to have their own other half's. With Leon together with Gwen and Lancelot together with Gwaine.

"Are you a fallen angel?" Gwaine asked with a teasing smirk on his lips.

"No?" He was confused at this and had no idea why they are still going on about this. But Arthur was looking more irked by each day that went on -which by now was a week- and he was confused. Yes, he got that it was flirting but he had no idea how to deal with this.

"Well, you fell straight into my heart." He groaned but not just him other people were also groaning. He felt his cheeks heat up and deciding that he just going somewhere away. Where none was going on his nerves.

He had to get away with morons flirting with him, Arthur more infuriating, and all in all he was fed up with everything. Then there were these attempts on the king more frequently and he just needed one-minute calmness or he will lose it. So, he vanished for the rest of the day.

"What the hell is going on with these morons?" He was right now next to Kilgharrah who he had befriended after freeing. The two were close friends right now and he called him by now Kil.

"Merls you do know that they are trying to make Arthur angry?" It was said with amusement and he could even hear his laugh later on.

This just made him stare at the dragon in pure puzzlement. "I don't quite follow with this, Kil." Even his voice held the same puzzlement.

"God you are such a dense and innocent person." It was said with the same amusement. "They want to make Arthur jealous." It was soon added, and he furrowed his brows now.

"But why?"

"Really?" It was asked right after and he looked at him with more confusion. "You are really dense. The king loves you or why else did I say your two sides of the same coin." It was said with a chuckle at the end.

"Hold it so you meant that we love each other? But how did you know?" He couldn't help but ask and feeling his heart thunder in his chest.

"The king changed his output on magic after Uther died. He even changed the law for you and changed the law that same-gendered people are safe in Camelot." It was pointed out to him.

"Oh..." He felt like the biggest moron on earth. How couldn't he realize that Arthur was loving him? He always thought it was for someone else. But now hearting this made him realize the adorning look the king always gave him. The small affectionate touches, which seemed innocent. Even on his birthday, he got a new neckerchief a red one.

This was why his eyes widen and he facepalmed himself for realizing this just now. He gave a quick 'sorry gotta go,' and using a teleportation spell. By now everyone knew about him being a warlock and he was damn glad about this. A weight lifted after he told Arthur and him accepting this. It was apparent now that he thought about it. Arthur had changed the law as quickly as possible. Making magic legalized. He had been blind, and he realized this now.

Arthur looked concerned and a frown adorned his face. It was not something he expected when entering his chamber. Merlin hadn't really knocked, and Arthur was by now used by his antics. The male snapped his head into the direction and before he realized what happened, a blond blur tackled him into a hug.

"Never leave." It was said breathless and relief dripped from the other's voice. It made his heart skip a beat.

"Are you trying to propose to me or something, prat?" It was asked with amusement, but what he wasn't expecting the answer.

"Well, I wouldn't mind marrying you." It was said with a nonchalant tone, but he could hear nervousness behind it.

"Wait your- holy shit how didn't I realize this earlier?" He said with a surprised tone and decided to make a bold move, kissing the king on his lips.

First, he felt him stiffen but soon he kissed back. It was sweet yet softly and full of emotions. When both pulled away, he saw a grin on Arthur's lips, and he grinned brightly back.

"Well, I guess that explains why you were mad at the knights flirting with me." It was said with amusement.

"Shut it, they are lucky that I didn't punch them." It was grumbled out and annoyance heard in his voice.

This made him snicker and feeling his smile grow now. "I don't care about their flirting because the person who took my heart was you. and my heart will always belong to you." His lips turned soft as he said this, and Arthur soon had a blush adorning on his lips. Their lips soon crashed together once more and this time in a more passionate way.

His head on Arthur's chest, legs entangled with each other and both holding each other closely. The calm and steady heartbeat was something that was even more calming to him. This was always something that he imagined, cuddling with the person he loved. Sweet touches and kisses.

"When did you realize your feelings?" Merlin decided to break the silence with this question, curiosity was what he felt.

"When you drank the poisoned drink like a clot pole you were." It was said with lightness and he blinked owlishly now. "I was scared shitless and realized my feelings more and more afterward." It was said with an adorning yet caring tone, there was also fear heard in his voice.

"I realized my feelings after the valiant thing. I thought I lost you and starting to realize how much you meant to me, so I couldn't stand still after hearing that the goblet had been poisoned I couldn't help but drink it." He said with a sheepish undertone.

"You're a reckless baffoon." It was said with lightness and he chuckled.

"I am your reckless baffoon." A chuckle escaped from the other person adding with a snort. Both held a staredown before they kissed softly before starting their familiar banter.

They found out later on that the knights had been flirting because they wanted the two finally get together. It seemed that they had been too dense to realize that they love each other. Let's just say Arthur upped their training for this.
