AshyGurl101 gave me the name idea. Enjoy!

When the Nektons got back to the Aronnax they had to decide on what they were going to to with 'floof ball'. They didn't want to take him back to the market but they were worried that he and Jeffrey wouldn't get along. They were sat in Will's study talking it over Fontaine wanted to keep him but William suggested they give him to Jess and her dad. He said that a submarine was no place for a cat.

Floof ball was over by Jeffrey's tank, the two were just staring at eachother. Eventually Alpheus got bored and wondered back over to the table the Nektons were at. He jumped up onto the table and started sniffing around. He found William's cup of coffee and immediately started drinking it. He'd always steal coffee on the market when he got the chance.

It took a while for Will to notice.

"Hey, no coffee for you."

Will picked Alpheus up and set him down on the other side of him next to Fontaine. He immediately ran back over to the coffee cup. Unfortunately William had already picked it up and was heading to pour it down the sink.

"You know we need a name for him."

"We're not naming him!"

"Whyyy!"

"Because if you name him you'll get attached and we can't keep him."

"... I think coffee's a good name."

"Better than floof ball."

Will sighed, he knew he wasn't going to win this argument. Kaiko laughed.

"Better keep an eye out from now on Will. I think Coffee's gonna be stealing your coffee."

It wasn't long before Alpheus got use to living life on the Aronnax. It was loud and chaotic but not in the same way the floating market was. Alpheus didn't have to worry about people hurting him the Nektons were nice.

Ant had been trying to train Coffee to be a guard cat, Fontaine wasn't to happy about it.

"First you train the fish and now you train my cat?"

"Since when is he your cat?"

"I found him and he likes me more than you!"

Coffee jumped up onto on of Jeffrey's tubes. He didn't usually get involved in their arguments. He was about to fall asleep when he heard a noise in Wills study. Thinking he might have some coffee he could steal Alpheus went to check it out.

He found Nereus holding the Cronical of the Deep. Nereus looked very surprised to see him.

"Oh hello there, I'm guessing you're Coffee."

Alpheus had a hundred questions but he was very happy to see Nereus again after all these years, even if Nereus didn't know it was him.

Coffee ended up following Nereus to the cargo bay where he sat down with the Cronical.

"I suppose I can trust you not to tell anyone I'm here right Coffee?"

"Mew!"

"Well I suppose I could tell you a story to pass the time before the Nektons find us. Now have you ever heard the story of-"

Three hours later Ant finally found them. Nereus had fallen asleep almost an hour ago.

"Some guard cat you are. You're supposed to attack intruders!"

"Mew."

Ant woke Nereus up and after a short conversation the two made their way to William's study.

"What are you doing here? How'd you get in?"

"I knocked. No-one answered. I opened the hatch."

"But we have alarms!"

"Hmm... Then perhaps they need upgrading?"

Alpheus rolled his eyes, he knew fine well Nereus used his staff to get in. Hed learned similar tricks in the past.

"Then you stole our scroll."

"Borrowed your scroll."

"That's true Dad, If he took it, you wouldn't have it, would you?"

"I just want to know how you opened my safe, Nereus."

"Change your password, William, znd this time, don't use the name of a toy I gave you when you were six years old."

"You knew him when you were little?"

"I remember my parents had a friend. You used to be taller."

"And you used to be shorter."

Nereus gestured the scroll.

"Uh please?"

William nodded.

"This scroll is called the Cronical of the Deep, its very old and I wanted to check something I saw years ago."

As Nereus removed the casing Alpheus saw his family symbol. He immediately walked over and started scratching at it.

"No! Bad cat!"

Fontaine picked him up and set him down on the floor.

"Don't be too hard on Coffee he's just curious. Now there's a mystery that intrigued me when I was younger."

After a few minutes of discussion the Nektons agreed to search for this Ephemycron. As Nereus was putting the casing back on he realised what Coffee had been scratching at. He was a little confused as to why the cat had gone after the Benthos family crest and nothing else. He decided to keep an eye on the cat, he seemed familiar in a way but Nereus couldn't quite place his finger on it.

When the Nektons returned with the piece of the Ephemycron thankfully unharmed. Coffee was waiting for them in the moon pool. He seemed extremely interested in the piece of the Ephemycron more interested than any normal cat should be. Nereus had many questions but he was unfortunately called back to the Guardians before he could get an answer.

There weren't any jellyfish guarding the Ephemycron cause my theory is that Alphues made them for Protues but was never told what they were being used for.

The next chapter is either going to be Alpheus trying to kill Finn for flirting with Fontaine or Protues for breathing the same air as him. Let me know what you guys wanna see!
