Self indulgent. Don't mind me

Antaeus was called down to breakfast earlier than usual that morning. Much to his annoyance. He just wanted to sleep in was that to much to ask.

He was surprised to find a kid sitting at the table with Nereus. He didn't know there were other kids here.

"Antaeus, good to see you. Sorry for the early wake up call." He chuckled "I just thought you'd like to meet the newest member of the guardians, Alpheus."

The boy waved.

"Now Alpheus why don't you finish your breakfast then Antaeus can show you around."

Antaeus was practically vibrating with excitement. Finally someone his own age. Or close enough anyway. He stuffed his breakfast down his throat in recoded time, earning a concerned look from Nereus, he then waited patiently for the kid to finish.

As soon as Alpheus was done the tour began. Ant showed him the most interesting parts of the base first. He showed Alpheus the kitchen where  Agatha made cookies and cakes once a week. He showed him the fencing arena, Sean who ran the fencing club would sneak him in comic books if he cleaned the equipment. He showed him the spare closet full of guardian robes, the best place to take a nap in the whole base. He once slept there for three hours and no one found him.

Alpheus though Antaeus was loud. Good loud but still loud. The Guardians  looked at the two of them differently. Very differently. They seemed to hate him. He's never even met them before why did they hate him? Nereus seemed nervous around him. Did he do something wrong?

"Alpheus? Are you alright?"

"I'm ok."

Antaeus smiled.

"Come on! I'll show you my room! Maybe you can get one next door!!"

Antaeus started dragging Alpheus away from the library they'd been in. Smiling. Well, atleast Antaeus didn't hate him. Maybe this place wasn't so bad. Maybe he could be happy here.

Antaeus' room was covered wall to wall in lights and posters. There wasn't even an inch of space left between them. The desk was covered in a mix of Lumuria artifacts and toys. One of them caught his eye, it was a small Teddy bear. He had one just like it.

"Do you like him?"

Alpheus nodded. Ant grabbed the Teddy from the desk.

"This is sir snuggles, he's be best Teddy bear anyone could ask for."

Ant handed him to Alpheus.

"He'll take care of you while you get settled in."

"Thank you."

Alpheus stared at the teddy for a moment, it was missing an eye and part of an ear but was still very cute. He held him close as Antaeus continued the tour.

"This is my blanket fort! The biggest one on the island!! Took me weeks to make!"

Antaeus smiled proudly at his fort. Alpheus looked at it mildly.

"I've seen bigger."

Antaeus let out a dramatic gasp.

"Ooooh~ you're on!!"

"On?"

"You, me, blanket fort competition."

"Fort what?"

Antaeus smiled and sprinted down the hall to the spare linen cupboard. He took as many blankets and pillows as he could carry before running back to the room. Alpheus looked strangely at the pile he dumped on the floor.
