Dolos was woke at three in the morning by Alpheus tugging on his shirt.

"What is it Alpheus."

Dolos was annoyed. He didn't appreciate being woken up this early.

"I'm sorry, I-I thought- I thought I saw."

Dolos reached over and turned on the lights. Alpheus was crying.

"Alpheus? What's wrong?"

"I-I thought I saw... my m-mum."

Dolos hummed.

"Do you want to go talk to her?"

"NO! Please n-no."

Dolos was a little taken aback by Alpheus' outburst. Alpheus had never raised his voice before.

"Alpheus?.... Do you want me to take a look?"

Alpheus nodded. Dolos sighed and got out of bed. He followed Alpheus outside. He had a quick look around but he didn't see anyone.

"See Alpheus, no ones here."

"Ar- are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Now why don't we get you back to bed?"

Alpheus followed Dolos back inside. Alpheus still seemed nervous and Dolos didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone like that.

"Do you want me to stay up with you a little longer?"

"Yes, please."

Dolos hummed and put the kettle on. Alpheus curled up onto the sofa. A few minutes later Dolos handed him a cup of tea and said down beside him.

"Do you, want to talk about it?"

Alpheus shook his head and took a sip of his tea. Dolos didn't want to push him so he let it go. He grabbed the remote and turned the TV on. He started looking for something Alpheus would like, just for a distraction. Unfortunately the only thing he could find was some old Kaiju movie.

"Is this ok? I know William's son likes them."

"Yeah, thanks."

The two sat in silence until Alpheus started drifting off to sleep. Dolos grabbed the cup out of his hand, he didn't want him to spill it and burn himself. He put the cups in the kitchen and then picked Alpheus up. He carried Alpheus back to his room and carefully tucked him into bed. 

"Mmh G'night dad."

Dolos paused for a moment, he wasn't sure he'd heard right.

"Good night Alpheus."

Dolos switched off the light and closed Alpheus' door. He walked into the kitchen and sat down. He didn't feel like going back to sleep just yet. He grabbed a book of of one of the many bookshelves, he wanted to do some research.

When Alpheus woke up the next morning he was still anxious from last night. He walked into the kitchen only to find Dolos asleep at the table. There was a mess of coffee mugs, books and papers thrown around the table. Alpheus tapped him on the shoulder and he startled awake.

"Alpheus? What time is it?"

"Its eight am..."

Alpheus sat down beside him.

"I'm, I'm sorry about last night. I shouldn't have bothered you."

"No, it's alright. You didn't bother me."

Dolos yawned.

"I'll start breakfast, pancakes?"

Alpheus nodded, as Dolos stood up Alpheus saw what he was reading. It was a law book, last Alpheus checked Dolos didn't care about the law. One page was book marked. Alpheus looked over at Dolos, he was yelling at the stove for not starting.

Alpheus grabbed the book and opened it. It was a chapter on adoption.

Dolos basically spent the whole night furiously googling 'how do I adopt a child'. Alpheus and Dolos have a silent agreement to never tell the Nektons.
