Been a while since I've done this one. Enjoy teenage Alpheus being a menace to society
It was early morning on the floating market. Stalls owners were only beginning to set up, the sun not yet fully rising. At times like this the market was almost peaceful.
"OI GET BACK HERE!!! THIEF!!"
Almost.
"HYPOCRITE!!"
Alpheus screamed back ducking as the pirate threw a coffee cup at him, jumping over crates blocking his way and finally diving into a tight space between two large crates. He waited there until he heard the pirate storm past cursing him out as he went.
He very carefully made his way back home before his father woke up. He climbed back threw his window. Waking out into the living room he threw the artifacts he'd stolen into the pile with the rest. He'd get round to categorising them later.
He was about to grab breakfast when there was a loud knocking at the door. Alpheus thought it was odd, everyone knew they were closed till 12. The knocking came again louder this time.
"DOLOS! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!!"
Alpheus walked to the door, swinging it open to come face to face with non other that Hammerhead.
"Can't you read, we're closed."
"I need to speak to your father."
"As I said. We're closed. Do you understand what the sign says or are you that stupid."
"I know what the sign says boy! Just go get your father."
"Do you? Do you really? Because if you need reading lessons I'm happy to help, maybe then you would know when we're c.l.o.s.e.d."
"Get your father or I'll throw you overboard."
"Oh no. My only weakness. Water." Alpheus sarcastically responded.
Hammerhead let out a deep sigh. Pinching the brow of his nose trying to find the strength to not chuck a 14 year old.
"Would you please go get your father."
"Well saying as you asked so nicely. DAD YOU'RE WANTED ON DECK!!"
Alpheus heard his dad muttering from somewhere inside. Most likely cursing whoever dragged him out of bed before ten.
"He'll be out in a moment. Anything I can help you with in the mean time?"
Hammerhead glared. Alpheus smiled.
Eventually Dolos dragged himself onto deck.
"Hammerhead. We are closed."
"I am aware, but I need your help translating this."
Hammerhead handed him an old tattered map. Dolos looked throughly unimpressed.
"And what is so important about this map that it compelled you to come here while we're closed."
"I don't know but the Nektons sure seemed interested in it and non of my men can translate it."
Dolos sighed.
"Very well. There will be an extra fee for out of hours translations, comeback in two hours we should have it done by then."
"Thank you Dolos."
Hammerhead then left. Dolos handed Alpheus the map as he walked back inside.
"Would you leave that on my desk please, I'm going to make some coffee."
Alpheus nodded and followed him inside, locking the door behind him. Dolos desk was a mess to say the least but Alpheus managed to find a relativly safe place to put the map. He was just about to join his dad when something on it caught his eye. A weird looking symbol. He was almost sure he'd seen it before tho he couldn't quite remember where from.
The runes on the map told him the language was old, at least 7000 years old. Since he'd lived with Dolos he'd only seen those runes a handful of times. Still it didn't make sense.
What was his old family's crest doing on a Lumurian artefact.
Is Alpheus more sassy here than in cannon, probably. Do I care, absolutely not.
Alpheus would be connecting the dots but he knows fine well the Nektons are really into Lumuria and he would rather not revisit the Nekton incident. He's enjoyed that last 2 years free from the Nektons he ait gonna invite them back into his life again.
Also the reading lessons thing will probably come up again, maybe.
Thanks for reading please leave any thoughts or suggestions in the comments and feel free to use any of my ideas or oc's in your own works!!
