TW: Coming out. (Starts poor, ends well)
Logan hadn’t completely followed what Janus was doing until the end, but the end result was worth it, as Roman sat on the bean bag with Virgil and apologized softly to him. Logan had his own arms around Patton, before he looked at his watch. “Shit. I must take my leave.”
“Why?” Patton looked up at him.
“My parents always like us to be home by 5:45 when they are in town. It is almost that time.”
“Oh. Are you sure you’ll be okay with them?” Patton wondered, looking at Logan with concern.
“I will be, yes.” Logan nodded, although he wasn’t sure. “Will you be able to let me out, Remus?”
“Yeah. I gotta find a spot for Roman and I to sleep now too. Since we can’t exactly go back.”
“Thank you.” Logan said, standing as Patton uncurled himself from Logan’s arms. Remus stood as well, but with a lot of help from Janus. They made their way to the entrance, where Remus opened it. “I will make my way there from here. Thank you.” Logan said, and stepped out into the woods. He knew he couldn’t make himself float if he wasn’t in his suit, at least not yet, so once the portal closed, Logan morphed and floated into the sky, staying low so he could hide behind buildings and in trees. He ducked between branches as he passed by the school, then around small houses as he made his way over to his own, and landed in the brush by his car.
“Deactivate.” He whispered, feeling his armor climb into his watch before stepping out and walking to his car. He was grateful for Patton’s quick thinking earlier, having Logan and Patton leave in his car, and ride Turbo to his house and before they both flew to the clearing. It made the excuse of where he was much easier. He got in, turning his car on before driving out of the spot he’d hidden Turbo earlier, before pulling up to his normal spot and parking. He noticed his parent’s car was already there, and checked his watch. 5:40. He was close. He walked into his house, and saw his parents in the living room.
“Nora. We need to talk.” His mother said, and Logan felt his fingers twitch at the name. It made him feel awful, like he wasn’t passing near enough to pull off looking like himself.
“Yes Mother?” Logan said, sitting down on the chair opposite them and forcing his voice to sound more feminine.
“Where were you this morning?”
Had they checked his room? They never did that. Logan always locked it too, in case he woke up particularly dysphoric and needed to bind before others saw him. “Here at home, why?”
“You didn’t leave?”
“No.” Logan lied. “Not before I left to visit a-” Don’t say boyfriend. Don’t say boyfriend. Don’t say boyfriend. “-friend.” Close enough.
His father shifted forward. “We met with those vigilantes that have been seen around the city.”
“Oh?”
“And one of them…” His mother looked at him, and Logan hated her gaze. “Sounded like you.”
Logan frowned. “Like me? I thought they were all boys.” Logan said, as his brain screamed. They are!
“Well, maybe not exactly. They all sounded very masculine.” His father remarked. Logan fought off a smile.
“But still.” His mother scooted forwards. “Were you in this house this morning?”
“Yes.” Logan nodded to further encourage his lie.
“Okay.” His mother sat back. “However, you understand you won’t be leaving this house much while we are investigating. We want to keep you safe, Nora. So for now, it will be to school, then back home. No stops.”
