Janus watched Remus smile at him, before his eyes closed and he slumped over. Roman and Virgil caught him, and everyone made way as they laid Remus down on the ground.

“What happened?” Patton asked, but Janus and Virgil shared a look.

“It didn’t go well, did it?” Virgil asked, looking over at Remus as Janus knelt beside him.

“No.” Roman said. “Deactivate.”

“What didn’t?”

“I told my mom I was a ranger.”

Patton gasped a little, and Janus watched the pieces click for him before he looked back at Remus. “I’m so sorry, Roman.”

“Me too.” Roman admitted.

Janus noticed a red seeping from Remus’s calf, and moved his boyfriend's leg to see a long scrape against the skin. It wasn’t super bad, and Janus looked over at Roman. “What happened to Remus?”

“I-” Roman’s breathing quickened, and Janus could see Virgil fight between helping Remus and staying with Roman. “Spider-guy. Poison. It apparently can’t kill Rangers, but-”

“It sure packs a punch.” Janus finished, rubbing his neck where he’d been hit.

Virgil looked over, before nodding to himself. “Come on, I’ll carry Remus into the lounge so we can get him on the couch.”

Janus nodded, helping Virgil shift Remus’s weight onto him. It was admittedly kind of funny seeing Virgil’s shorter self carrying an easily six foot Remus, but Virgil managed to make it look easy. Janus walked by Roman, deciding to help where he could since Virgil was preoccupied with Janus’s boyfriend.

It was quiet for a moment as they walked. “Are you alright?”

“He didn’t get me, so yeah.”

“Good.” Janus nodded. “I’m sorry about your mom.”

“I never should’ve done what I did.” Roman said, and Janus wasn’t sure what to say. He wished he could say that Roman had done the right thing, but Janus wasn’t sure he had. Janus saw Virgil stumble while holding Remus, before Logan opened the door to the lounge and Virgil walked in. Janus was only a few steps behind, and walked over to the kitchenette.

“No need.” Virgil huffed as he set Remus down. “He just needs the poison to run through.”

“Right, but what about his cut?”

“Healed.” Virgil said, showing Remus’s leg.

“Virg-”

“Save it. My power, my call.” Virgil said, before he walked over to Roman and stared at him for a moment. Janus wondered what would happen, before he saw a tear on Roman’s cheek, and he bent down to cry into Virgil’s shoulder. Virgil held him before gesturing for Logan to open the door for them, and he led Roman out. Janus watched before the door closed, and turned to sit down by Remus.

“Fucking idiot.” Janus chided. “You didn’t even let me save you this time.”

Janus’s mom, who had been watching for a moment, finally came over and sat down beside him. “He’ll be okay, hun.”

“I know.” Janus said, before putting his head against the armrest of the chair. “I just wish I knew what happened.”

Janus leaned against the chair a while, all the while playing with Remus’s morpher on his hand, or his hair. He wondered if he’d been out this long when the spider-guy had gotten him. He wasn’t sure, but he knew that it had felt awful, and Janus couldn’t help but feel sorry for Remus, whose face was scrunched in pain as he rested. At a certain point, Patton and Logan had left the room, and Janus’s mom had stood, walking around as she cleaned and organized.
