Normal P.O.V

Ever since morning Gems was not in the mood, after he saw the nightmare he wasn't so sure about what to do and what he shouldn't do. And he had absolutely no clue about what was going to happen.

“Gemsie, you're thinking too much.” Gray said as he was tying his shoe laces while Gems just sat on their bed waiting for Gray to get ready. Gems hadn't spoken much, he was lost in his own thoughts and it was very clear to Gray what he was thinking about. “Come on...” Gray mumbled as he sat besided Gems.

Gems just sigh.

“I just can't stop thinking about it. Like I want to be at MagicMania. No, I need to be on the team.” Gems mumbled as he starred at the floor. Gray had a confused look on his face.

Gray never sensed such determination from Gems before. Not even during their daily training sessions.

“That's surprising, I have never seen you this determined before.” Gray mumbled. “Is there any specific reason why you so desperately want to participate?” Gray asked. Gems swallowed a lump.

He looked at Gray and he was this close to telling him about Seth and his parents. But he resisted.

“I don't want to sit on the sidelines anymore.” Gems said directly as he looked at Gray.

Gray knew Gems wasn't wrong, but deep down Gray also knew that Gems's name might not be on the list. He just didn't want his boy to get disappointed and feel discouraged again.

They both sat there in silence for a couple of minutes before they headed downstairs after Gems demanded a hug.

They regrouped with the others at the guild hall, which was still under construction. Literally every single member was present there to listen to the announcement in the hopes that their name would be announced. Gems looked here and there and all he saw was hope in everyone's eyes.

Gems stood between Lucy and Gray, while being nervous.

Knowing Lucy, Gems knew Lucy didn't really care about stuff like this, she was happy with winning, it didn't matter to her about who brought that win. Gems thought the same way, but this time his parent's life was on the line.

This was a do or die situation for Gems.

Gems had his fingers crossed when he saw Makarov arrive with a wide smile on his face and a paper in his hand. Gems's heart beats were increasing as they were drawing closer and closer to the moment they all had been waiting for.

‘This is it.’ Gems thought while praying. ‘Please let my name be on that list, please!’

“My children, I hope everyone is prepared.” Makarov spoke and all of them cheered, well most of them. “It was very tough to just select 12 people based on their performance over the past year. But a decision was needed, and I was able to pin down 12 gifted wizards out of which six will represent Fairy Tail at MagicMania.” he added.

Gems took a deep breathe and prayed while crossing fingers of both his hands.

“So here it goes, the 12 wizards fitting for a chance to participate at MagicMania.” Makarov spoke and everyone was getting stressed.

“Erza Scarlet.”

Erza's name didn't come as a shocker to anyone, neither was Gems shocked. Gems knew about it. Erza smiled as she walked and stood besides Makarov on the stage.

“Laxus Dreyar.”

“Mirajane Strauss.”

“Natsu Dragneel.”
