Xia Yao and his mum moved to a different city, because his parents got divorced. Xia Yao was happy about it, since his dad used to be very abusive towards the both of them. Xia Yao applied for a job as an assistant in a big company, where he started...
"Xia Yao! Wake up or else you are going to be late!" Shit! I looked over to my phone and saw that I had 15 minutes left to get ready or else I really was going to be late. How was I supposed to get ready in 15 minutes!? I still had to shower!
I got up and bolted towards the bathroom, showered, brushed my teeth and did my hair. I really had no idea what to wear, I should have picked my outfit yesterday, damn it!
Wow, I really was stupid. I looked at the clock. 3 minutes. Oh well, I was going to be late now. Shit. Shit. Shit! Would it be too much if I showed up in a suit and tie? At that moment I really didn't care, so I picked a navy blue colored suit and also wore glasses. I didn't normally wear glasses, but in this case I decided to wear them. You know, to make myself look like I was actually smart and had my life together and all.

I didn't really like wearing glasses, though, they made my ears itch for some reason. However, I did like how they looked on me. I looked pretty cute in them if did say so myself. Hehe.
My pictures also often went viral on weibo, because of my "boyish" looks or whatever they called it. I didn't agree with them, though. I was and looked like a real grown up man, thank you very much. Just because I didn't have any facial hair or body hair for that matter, really, did not mean that I was not a real man. But I did take it as a compliment. I mean, I was pretty handsome, people often told me that, too. There was nothing wrong with being a little confident!
You would think that someone as good-looking as me would have had a lot of girls on his feet, which yes, I did. I wasn't really interested in them, though. I had never been in a real relationship with anybody before, unless you count that two day long relationship I had with a girl in kindergarden, when I was 3 years old. And my mum kept bugging me about it, too, even telling me that someone my age should at least already have a girlfriend. I just hadn't met the right person to settle down with yet and I wasn't rushing it, either.
Anyway...
I arrived at my new work place, in time, actually. Turned out I still had a bit of time left! So I immediately went over to the receptionist.
"Hello, I am the new assistant here and I was supposed to meet a Mr. Yuan Zong. Could-" She didn't even let me finish my sentence.
"Mr. Zong? Oh, right, he is in a meeting right now. I'm sorry, it might take a few hours. It is about a pretty big project our company is currently working on." She apologized and continued to stare at me.
"Oh, that's okay. Is there someone who could show me around, maybe?" I asked awkwardly.
"Our Boss, Mr. Yuan Zong, ususally does it. He is not very fond of other people doing his job, but maybe I could call his sister. He would surely be fine with her showing you around and telling you the things you need to know about our company." So, Yuan Zong was actually my boss.
"Alright, thank you so much, I appreciate it." I smiled politely at her.
"Oh, no need to thank me, sweetie!" She was nice, but also kinda creepy...
I noticed a girl with very long legs walking towards us, a big smile plastered over her face. Seriously, how could people be so happy early in the mornings? I could never understand that!
"Hello, you must be Xia Yao. I am Yuan Ru, it's very nice to meet you!" She smiled and shook my hand. Damn, she was very tall, almost as tall as me, I was 1.85m. And she wasn't even wearing heels!
"It's nice to meet you, too, Miss."
"Oh, don't call me miss! It makes me feel old!" She started laughing, shaking her head.
"My brother already told me about you and unfortunately he is going be very late, since he is in an important meeting right now." She, also, apologized.
"That's no problem at all. Work obviously always comes first."
"First of all, welcome to Zong's enterprise and I hope you will enjoy working here. It is going to be tough, I am telling you that right now, but you have to know that this is a pretty big and also very successful car company and mistakes are not allowed here. We only hire the best people, so we are counting on you, Xia Yao." I could already tell that she was being very serious about it and definitely not joking at all.
"I won't disappoint you, mi-" she cut me off again.
"Don't call me miss." We both had to laugh again. She was a nice woman, I had to admit.
"Alright."
After showing me around the company and also telling me a little bit about it, Yuan Ru showed me my office. Yes, office. Everybody had their own office here, which I found pretty great, because it was easier for you to get work done, without anyone distracting you from working. You know what I meant, we've all had that one annoying co-worker/friend at least once in our lifes.
Since I only had the job interview via phone call, no one really told me about the tasks I was going to have. Yuan Ru said that the boss was finally out of the meeting, after two hours, and was now expecting me in his office.
"Welcome to Zong's enterprise, Xia Yao. I am Yuan Zong, your boss."
And it was no other than the man I bumped into at the supermarket. Great.
