Xia Yao's POV

I had been working at Zong's enterprise for 1 month now. It actually wasn't as stressful as I thought it was going to be in the beginning. The amount of work was a lot, sure, but it wasn't that hard so I was rather quick with getting work done, which still left Yuan Zong stunned sometimes.

Speaking of the devil. He really was annoying at times. Making stupid comments here and there, as if he wanted to provoke me on purpose. He probably wanted to!

Sure, there were times when we got along pretty well, but there were also times where I wanted to do nothing more than rip his head off!

Right now I was sitting at the dinner table with my mum, eating dinner. I just knew she was going to tell me to do something, I could see that look on her face already.

"So..." She started.

"Yes, Ma?" I didn't look at her. Here it came...

"Have you found a girl, who has caught your eye, yet?" She had a hopeful look on her face.

"No. I have not."

"Son... It's time for you to find a girlfriend!"

"I don't want to be in a relationship right now, mum. I want to focus on work. And also, we basically just moved here, how could I have found a girlfriend in that short period of time!" I said expressionless, while eating my noodles.

"I am worried about you, son. You have never introduced a girl to me. You are 25, for gods sake! It's about damn time you find one who you can marry soon after!" She was angry. My mum was pretty old fashioned, wanting to live to old traditions, unlike me. I sighed.

"Well. I am not getting married anytime soon, so don't get your hopes up." I was about to stand up to go to my room, when she grabbed my wrist.

"Son... you know I only want the best for you... but you have to understand that I want grandchildren, too. You are all grown up now, I have no one, but you." She always tried to find ways to make me feel bad. Not this time, though.

"Excuse me, mum." I went to my room and took a shower, wanting to go to sleep early. I hated how my mum always pressured me into things. She had been like that ever since I was a child. Always wanting to show off with me, her only son.

For some reason, I couldn't concentrate on work today. I was very tired, even though I went to sleep early. I had dark circles under my eyes, as if I hadn't gotten any sleep for days! My co-worker Peng Ze, who became a good friend of mine, too, seemed to have noticed my weird behaviour.

"Hey, Brother. Are you okay?" He asked concerned. Seemed like I had zoned out for a bit.

"Huh? Uhm, yeah. Just tired."

"Did you even get any sleep?"

"Hmm. I did."

"I doesn't look like it, you look dead." Geez, thank you.

"Hey, by the way. Boss is asking for the files you had to check. You were supposed to be finished half an hour ago." Oh shit! I wasn't even half way through with them!

"I'm not done..." I told Peng Ze

"What do you mean, you are not done? Boss has been very happy with you lately and-"

"Wait, he is? How do you know?" I asked confused.

"He told us." No way in hell!

"When? Why didn't he tell me that?"

"Wait, he hasn't?"

"No!"

"Well, good luck explaining this to boss man now. See ya!" And then he was gone. Screw you, Peng Ze!

I went over to Yuan Ru's office.

"Hey, Yuan Ru. I'm going on break early, I need fresh air."

"Alright, is everything okay? You look pale..." Seriously?

"I always look pale, Yuan Ru. I'm going."

"Okay, you should tell Yuan Zong, first. He should know about it."

"Hmm." Pff, as if I was going to tell him that.

So I went outside to catch some fresh air, I really didn't know what was wrong with me today. I've never felt so out of place in my life! Maybe I just needed more sleep.

I looked at my watch. Damn it, I still had 4 hours until work was finished.

I stayed outside for 5 more minutes and then went back inside. If boss found out, he surely was going to kill me. I didn't even tell him that I went outside earlier than usual, even though Yuan Ru told me to do just that.

I went to my office so I could continue my work. Opening the door, no one else but Yuan Zong himself stood there.
