Xia Yao's POV
Yuan Zong and I were supposed to meet up in a few hours to go to lunch, but something came up. I didn't know what, though. For some reason, it bothered me. So much.
"Hey, Yuan Ru. Do you happen to know where your brother is?" I asked, hopeful. I know I was supposed to call him my boss, but Yuan Ru surely didn't mind.
"I don't, actually. Why, is there a problem?" She asked confused. Even Yuan Ru didn't know where her own brother was.
"Uhm, no. It's okay."
"If you have work to give him, you can just pass it on to me."
"It's not that. We- you know what, it's nothing. Thank you anyway." I smiled at her and went back to my office.
As the hours went by, I focused more on work and got a lot of it done, too. I realized that Yuan Zong was actually a big distraction to me. Maybe it was a good thing that he was absent today.
After a while, I heard a knock on my door. Getting up and opening the door after nobody came in, no one was outside. I looked around, but no one was in sight. I did notice a small package, though. I was so confused. Who even dared to go into Yuan Zongs office, while he wasn't there? Our offices were connected and that meant, that they had to go into his office first to go to mine.
Opening the package, I noticed a small cupcake in there, I'm sorry written on it.

I was so confused at this point. Who send me this? A realization hit me. It was definitely Huan Lige! I rolled my eyes at that thought. Even if she was only trying to be nice. I couldn't stand her, for some odd reason. I didn't know if it was because she had a crush on me or not. I wasn't sure.
Looking at my watch, I noticed that I only had an hour left of work. Huh? Time sure flew by! I must have skipped lunch, too. This was definitely not a good sign. I seemed to be skipping more and more meals lately. This was the 3rd time!
"Xia Yao?" When did Yuan Ru even come in?
"Are you sure you are okay? Did you have lunch?" I shook my head.
"You skipped lunch. Again." She pointed out.
"I must have forgotten. I was too focused on work, I guess."
"That's no reason at all, you know." She rolled her eyes at me. I just shrugged.
"You will get sick if you keep doing that!" Now she was just overreacting.
"Okay, enough already, Yuan Ru. Surely, I won't. It's not like I'm doing it on purpose."
"Stop rolling your eyes at me! You are not a doctor to-" I cut her off.
