Yuan Zong's POV

These past couple of weeks were very tough for Xia Yao and I. And even though it was really affecting Xia Yao and not me, it really broke my heart to see the love of my life so upset and hurt. All I could do at the moment, was to be there for him through everything. What really angered me, was, that Xia Yao's mother didn't even seem to care that her ex husband was back to torment their lifes. It made me angry, it seemed almost as if she didn't even care about his well being or about Xia Yao in general. It didn't bother Xia Yao anymore that his mother was treating him like that, claiming that he was already use to it by now.

"Good morning." I said as I walked down the stairs, Xia Yao was sitting at the breakfast table, while mother Xia was making breakfast.

"Good morning, ba- Yuan Zong!" I shook my head, laughing. So close.

"Do you have any plans for today?" My mother in law asked us and I looked over to Xia Yao, who was groaning already.

"No... what is your plan, mother?" Seemed like he already knew where this was going.

"We should go to the farmers market and then shopping. I saw some beautiful flowers there too and also, the living room could need some nice colors." She complained, scrunching her nose. I absolutely hated going shopping, so I needed to find an excuse to stay here here.

"You guys can go, I need to head over to the company and go through some paper work." I told them and took a sip of my coffee.

"Oh no. You are coming with us, whether you like it or not."

"Xia Yao! Don't talk to your boss like that! What in the world are you thinking?" Mother Xia yelled and I had to look away from them, before I bursted out into laughter.

"I'm sorry... geez." But then I remembered.

"You know what, I'll come with you. It isn't much paper work anyway." I quickily said. There was no way I was going to let them both go alone. Not now that Xia Yao's father was back. I had to protect him.

"Great! I'll go get ready and then we can go. Hurry up and eat! And don't forget to clean the table, Xia Yao." And with that she stood up and went upstairs.

"Is she gone?" I nodded and watched as he got up and rushed over to me, planting a long kiss on my mouth.

"I haven't kissed you today yet. Gosh, she sure does talk a lot." He whispered against my lips. We had to be careful, so we wouldn't get caught.

"Careful, babe. Slow down. Your mother is right next door." I told him, giving him a stern look.

"Ugh, alright. We should proably get ready, also. Even though my mother takes ages to get ready." He rolled his eyes and got up, starting to put all the dishes and food away. I helped him with that and once we were done, we both went into our room to get ready.

Going shopping with the mother in law... It was surely going to be interesting.

"Mother, can we please go home? You already bought so much and it is freezing cold!" Xia Yao complained, pulling my jacket tighter around himself. It was a little big on him, but he looked so cute. I had a sudden urge to pull him into my arms, but I couldn't do that. Unfortunately.

"Hush. Stop pouting like a little kid and let's go to a different store." We had been shopping around for pretty much the entire day now and I was getting impatient.

"Stop that, Xia Yao. Just listen to her and don't make her mad." I told him quietly and put my arm around his waist, pulling him forward. I just wanted to kiss his pout away, his lips were looking so inviting.

"No! I wanna go home, it's so cold! You can go with her!" He stomped his feet like a little child and stopped walking, his arms were crossed in front of his chest.

"Xia Yao... Don't make me angry, now. Let's go. It will be over soon."

"You know how she can be, Yuan Zong. She is not going to stop any time soon!" I really did not like the way Xia Yao was behaving. The people around us were giving us weird looks, also. It was embarrassing!

"Xia Yao, let's go. I'm not repeating myself, love. She is your mother, so you have to respect her."

"Why should I? She obviously doesn't give a shit about me." He mumbled and started walking.

"That's not true, alright? We'll talk about this later, but for now, let's just get this done and over with. Yeah?" He nodded and sighed.

"Hey, look at me." I looked around us and luckily, no one was in sight. It was already dark out too. His mother had already entered a different store.

I placed my hand under his chin, lifting it.

"I didn't mean to scold you, love. But I don't like the way you are behaving right now." He just nodded and looked to the ground. I lifted his head again and gently pecked his lips.

"I love you." I told him, kissing his forehead.

"You are lucky that you are so hot, I swear." He pouted once again.

"I know."
