Xia Yao's POV

"I-It's not what it looks like, mother!" I tried to explain, her mouth still wide open in shock.

"What in the world... Xia Yao!"

"You better have a good explanation on why you are in my room and went through my make up bag  are putting on my expensive make up. Now!" She yelled, absolutely furious. I looked over to Yuan Zong for help, but that idiot was just holding in his laughter, hand in front of his mouth.

"Uhm, well, you s-see... I had these rashes on my neck and u-uhm I tried to cover them with your make up? Because I was so embarrassed of them? And did not want to present myself to my mother, looking like that?" I knew she didn't buy it, heck, I wouldn't either! I sounded like a complete idiot, only making a fool out of myself.

"Then show them to me. Come on, son. Mummy wants to see your boo-boos." She cooed, as if I was a little baby. I blushed from embarrassment.

"Yeah, Xia Yao. Show her. Maybe it's something serious and you need to get it checked out." Yuan Zong teased and I shot him a death glare.

"You see, mother, I, uhm, already put the make up on and it took me s-such a long time... I can't just remove it." I tried and thankfully, she didn't push any further.

"Alright. But to make it up to your dear mother, you have to go on a date with that girl I met today. She is absolutely lovely and her family is very posh and rich, too. Xia Yao, son, what a wonderful opportunity!" She squeezed my cheeks and now it was my turn to tease Yuan Zong. I could tell he was not very fond of the idea of me and that stranger going on a date and I wasn't either, but I still decided to play along.

"Oh! I would lo-"

"He can't." Yuan Zong interrupted, giving me a cold look.

"Aw, why not, boss?"

"You can't. I need you to help me with... something."

"Alright, but you have to promise me that you will go on a date with her another time." I didn't say anything to her in return. There was no way in hell I was going on that stupid date. Before I could even answer, she clappped her hands in excitement.

"Wonderful!"

"Yeah... no." I heard Yuan Zong murmur quietly and I had to chuckle. He was so jealous.

"Ma, y-you said you brought food?" I tried to change the subject.

"Yes, I did. Kuài diăn!" She said and hurried out of the room.

Kuài diăn means "hurry up!".

"You are such an idiot, do you know that?" I lightly pushed Yuan Zong's chest and he let out a chuckle.

"Instead of helping me, but no, my oh so wonderful boyfriend decides to make fun of me in front of my mother." I pretended to be angry at him, but I knew he didn't buy it.

"Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad."

"It was so embarrassing for me! My mother caught me put on her make up. How humiliating!" I groaned.
