Xia Yao's POV

Once Yuan Zong and I arrived at my house, he would not let me go in, claiming that it would be too dangerous for me and that the "robber" might still be in the house, hiding somewhere. I had to laugh at how overprotective he was being the entire time. We had called the police on our way here, too and we also picked up my mother from her friends house. She was being oddly calm about the fact, that our house just got broken into, unlike on our phone call an hour ago.

"Xia Yao, son. Who is this fine young man here?" She looked at Yuan Zong, a smile on her face. She was constantly trying to change the topic and pretend, like our house did not just got broken into.

"He is... my fri-"

"I'm his boss, mam. It's nice to meet you, I'm Yuan Zong. The owner of the company." I watched as my mothers eyes widen in shock.

"Oh, wow. It's nice to meet you too, I'm Xia Yao's mother. Were you at the wedding also?" She asked as she pulled him into a hug. Well, I've never seen her do that to people she just met. Not even to my friends back home.

"I was. I drove Xia Yao there, too." Way to go, Yuan Zong. He did not have to say that.

"Oh, how nice of you!" She was obviously excited to hear that and then turned back to me.

"Mother, do you have an idea who might haven broken into our house?" I asked her, yet she avoided my gaze.

"No. Xia Yao, son. Book us a hotel we can sleep at for a while, will you. A nice one, with comfortable beds and nice showers, too and not those run down creepy and disgusting hotels." She scrunched her nose up in disgust and I sighed. So demanding, she was.

"Oh, no. You don't have to. You can just stay at my house, until everything is repaired, which is going to take a while. I have plenty of room left." Yuan Zong offered and I was glad he did. I didn't really want to part from him either.

"Yuan Zong, no-" My mother interrupted me.

"Oh, great! Thank you very much, young man." Oh, mother... Once she agreed to something, there was no going back. And also, I was happy about it, too.

"That's settled, then." He smiled at me and secretly placed his hand on my lower back, rubbing it which caused me to blush.

"I want to kiss you so bad, right now." He smiled and I blushed.

"Yuan Zong! Not now. Later..." I mumbled and looked away, feeling my cheeks heat up yet again. My mother was oblivious to everything, as she typed away on her phone.

And as he was about to reply, we heard police sirens go off, indicating that the police had arrived.
My mother started to tell them the whole incident. How she was at her friends house and as she came back, she found the house literally destroyed, but nothing was stolen.

"And who are you?" They turned to us and I read his nametag. Officer Yang was his name. He was bald and had a very scary aura to him.

"I'm her son, sir. My name is Xia Yao." He didn't even bother to ask Yuan Zong.
