today, i was asked to babysit abigail.
i agreed.
all of the duns were busy.
josh had school, ashley, laura, and bill all had work, and jordan was at a soccer practice.
when i arrived, she was ecstatic.
we read stories and colored.
i made her macaroni and cheese.
and i let her have an oreo.
maybe two.
she seemed genuinely happy while i was around. and, it was nice.
she was smiling and giggling, and she really just wanted to sit in my lap the whole time.
she nearly cried when laura arrived home and i had to go.
laura gave me $120.
that's $15 an hour!
that's 10 more dollars an hour than i make at my job.
i asked her if she would maybe like me to babysit abigail more often.
maybe as a more... permanent thing.
she said that would be absolutely wonderful.
so, i called my boss, and i quit.
i had a new job now.
one that i actually enjoyed.
