today, i stayed over after dinner.
joshua and i had our third rematch.
but this time, he started out with his arm around me.
we played, and i won again.
i then noticed he was staring at me.
and i couldn't help but look back.
and before we knew it, our eyes were closing and we were leaning forward.
our lips were barely touching, and we just hung there for a second, familiarizing ourselves with each other again.
but then, in one swift move, we pressed our lips together.
we pulled back the tiniest bit, his hand gently holding my cheek.
"i've missed you, my love," he said.
"i've missed you more," i replied, pressing another kiss against his lips.
he drove me home and walked me up to my door.
he asked me what we are.
i asked him the same.
he said he would be honored to be my boyfriend.
of course, i agreed.
he smiled and pulled me close by the waist, kissing my lips softly.
"don't forget about your promise ring, baby," he mumbled against my lips. "i might've given it to you a while ago, but its meaning will last forever."
i smiled shyly and nodded, my boyfriend kissing me goodnight.
and now, as i lie here in bed, i realize:
i didn't win those mario kart games.
joshua let me win.
so he could get closer and closer to me.
how adorably cliche.
