today, i had work.

but it wasn't a normal work day.

joshua's school had given him a week-long break after he returned from amsterdam, so he stayed home and helped teach abigail.

well, he tried to, at least.

he tried to explain things, and she would be completely lost. but then i would explain it, and she'd understand it perfectly.

he tried making lunch for them, but he ended up burning the chicken nuggets. though, when i went and made them, abigail said they were the best she'd ever had.

then, after her school day was over, we had music time. josh tried to teach her the drums, but she insisted ukulele was better.

and i think it hurt josh a little bit.

though, as always, joshua insisted it was perfectly fine.

after abi went to bed, i tried to tell him she had nothing against him and loved him to death, just she learns differently than most people. as do i.

josh just sighed and nodded, pulling me into his arms and kissing the top of my head.

but, then, abigail came into joshua's room to find us making out on the couch.

oops.

"y-yes?" i asked embarrassedly, discreetly sliding off josh's lap.

she asked me what we were doing.

i said just kissing.

a lot.

she then toddled in, plopping down on the ground in front of us. she said she missed me.

"and joshie too, right?" i asked, praying she said yes.

"oh, yes. but not as much as you, tyty," she said.

i sighed and picked her up, holding her in my lap as i kissed josh's cheek.

"isn't joshy just the most handsome boy you've ever seen?" i asked, running my fingers through my boyfriends hair.

"yeah, he's pretty. but you're prettier," she said.

i sighed deeply as joshua got up and left the room.

"how about i read you a bedtime story?" i asked, knowing those typically put her to sleep.

she quickly nodded her head.

so we went to her room and i tucked her in, and read her a story. she fell asleep, and i returned to josh's room where i waited for him for nearly half an hour.

i went to the bathroom across the hall, going to open it and finding it was locked.

"josh, honey? may i come in?" i asked, gently shaking the door handle.

no response.

"j?"

no response.

"baby i know you're in there. just please come out or let me come in so we can talk," i pleaded.

no response.

i looked down at my feet and sniffled.

i hurt my boyfriend.

"i'll see you tomorrow, j. i love you," i said before i left their home.

tomorrow is supposed to be a date night for us, as we do every wednesday, so hopefully he'll be ok with me for that.
