josh and i had therapy today and we talked about what had happened while i was away.

and through talking about those emotions both while i was gone and in general, dr. shaw suggested we apply for an emotional support animal.

josh got really excited.

however, i've never had a pet. we weren't allowed to in my home growing up.

but, i took her word for it, and when we got home, we applied through an online screening.

we were accepted.

they provided many options of dogs, cats, and other animals, but there was only one that helped with both depression and anxiety.

josh would need him more for anxiety, and i would need him more for depression.

he didn't have a name yet.

we could pick him up tomorrow since he's in cincinnati.

so that's the plan.

but, we promised each other the puppy wouldn't get more attention than we gave each other.

and he wouldn't sleep on the bed with us every night. that way we can cuddle and change positions when needed without waking the little guy up.

we're excited.

we think it might be the thing that helps us get back to where we were before the incident.

i can only hope.
