DELANO POV
"Dad why didn't you kick Levi out?!" Ryan asked.
"Because that what was expected of me to do. So I did the total opposite and it threw your mother into a loop. She doesn't expect me to be that nice but I was" I said.
"So instead of being the dad we know. You decided to be the nice guy?" He asked.
I nodded "yup. It led to no fighting and your mom had a good time with her friend".
"I don't like him. Something about him is rubbing me the wrong way" Kai said.
"Me too! And mom is a little slow since she left you. So she's open to danger and not even know it" Ryan said. He did have a point. Gia is still angry at me so she doesn't see any red flags this guy might show her.
"Did you tell your mom that you weren't feeling Levi?" I asked.
"We didn't exactly tell her that. But we did in a way. I mean we wasn't the nicest people to the guy" Kai said.
"Well next time tell her again. She has to take your feelings into consideration" I said.
"I just wished you threw him out. Like what old dad would of done if he saw mom with another guy. But I'll wait. Knowing you dad you can't compose yourself for too long" Ryan said.
"Well I can prove you wrong" I said.
"Okay let's make a bet then. Is dad doesn't flip out within the next two months over moms friend he gets fifty bucks. And if he does then you owe us $25 each". These boys I tell you. "Fine... let's bet". They'll lose.
When we got home they went to shower and get ready for bed. I must say I was pretty calm tonight. Actually I'm proud of myself. That's a first. What I got from Levi was a guy who was rushing. I don't see why he's rushing Gia. Very polite guy though. A smile in your face type of guy. I shrugged I guess so.
My phone lit up...
"Thanks again! And if you could pick up Salem from day care tomorrow. I have to work late tomorrow" Gia texted.
"Yeah no problem. And you're welcome" I texted back.
The next day I waited outside Salem's day care. I haven't done this in a long time. The door opened and I looked and saw her holding hands with a boy walking out the building. I smiled and she smiled at me.
"Daddy!" She yelled.
"Hey princess!" I smiled.
"Where's mommy and Harlow?" She asked.
"Mommy had to work late. So you are coming with me until she gets home" I said.
"Yay!" She jumped. A woman came out "Excuse me? Are you Salem's father?". I nodded "yes".
"Umm I wanted to inform you. She's been biting other kids when she gets mad. That's not acceptable here. So if you could talk to her about it" she said.
"Oh yeah I'll speak to her about it. Thank you". She smiled and walked away. Helping Salem in the car and strapping her in. I'll wait for the conversation when we get to my house. She was humming a song in the back.
When we got to my house she ran inside. But the boys weren't home yet. It was just me and Salem. "Are you hungry? You want a snack?". She nodded "yes can I have cheese and crackers?".
"That sounds good. Take a seat" I said. She climbed onto her booster seat and just waited. Putting the plate of cheese and crackers and a fruit she went in. I sat next to her "Salem why are you biting now?".
"Because I get so mad I just bite" she said.
"Listen you can't do that. Biting is not nice. It hurts people when you do that" I said.
"But I get so mad daddy" she said.
"I get it. But no more biting. If your teacher comes to me again about you biting you will be in trouble. Understand?". She nodded "yes and I'm sorry".
"Tomorrow when you go to school you say sorry to the kid you bit. Okay?" She nodded "okay". Once she was done she hopped down and went to play. I cleaned her plate and set it to the side. About two hours later Gia was outside. Walking Salem out. I helped her in the car and strapped her in. Harlow was smiling when she saw Salem. "Hey pretty girl".
"Thanks again Delano" Gia said.
"No problem, Salem and I had fun today" I said.
"Yeah! I made spaghetti out of play doh" Salem said.
"Oh the teacher said she's been biting the other kids but I spoke to her about it already" I said.
"Really?... oh okay good" she said. Gia kept eyeing me as if she was waiting for something. "Anyway I'll let you guys go. Salem remember what I said". She nodded "I won't bite no more". I smiled "good". Gia scrunched her eyebrows and started to drive. I waved at the car as it disappeared.
I'm going to see if I can pick up Salem more often. Plus, I want to see if she actually stopped biting people too. I'll text gia when she gets home.
