GIA POV
Since Ryan and Kai were the oldest out of the four I wanted to have a serious conversation with them. Salem and Harlow wouldn't understand what I'm about to tell the other two. I'll save that conversation for when they are much older. Plus, Salem is a little sensitive from what she's going through.
"Boys can I speak to you?" I stood in the doorframe.
"I didn't do it" Ryan said.
"No one's in trouble" I said.
"Oh! Then yeah let's talk" Ryan said.
"Let's go in the living room" I said. Both boys followed me and took a seat. "I wanted to explain something to you both. It's about how I grew up. And it'll also explain why you don't have any grandparents". They stayed silent.
"First off, my mom which I can't even call her your grandmother cause she didn't earn that title. But she is no longer living" I said.
"Duh! Mom you took her out" Ryan said.
I nodded "I did and all for good reasoning".
"Which was?" Kai asked.
"My mom used to abuse me. And when I say abuse. She psychically and emotionally abused me. She would hit me and leave marks. One time she punched me in my eye causing my eye to swell. I couldn't go to school for a couple of days. She would call me names and made me feel worthless".
Kai looked at Ryan and back at me "why did you stay there?".
"Well Kai I was young. But I eventually moved out at sixteen. I couldn't deal with it anymore" I said.
"Wow" Ryan said.
"Yeah and then auntie Bria helped me out with trying to find a place and a job. That's where I met your dad" I said.
"Mom can we not associate her as auntie. She wasn't a good person. And the only reason why she extended her hand out to help is because she knew you were weak. You were an easy target for her" Ryan said.
Kai nodded "he's right".
"And dad's mom lets not even go there. She was just evil" I said.
Ryan sucked his teeth "she's lucky I didn't take her out for when she came at me that day".
"Sorry about that"'I said.
"Oh don't be sorry for other people's mistakes. She did what she did on purpose. She knew I couldn't fight back" he said.
"Well she's where she belongs now. Playing ping pong with the devil" I joked.
"How about your dad?" Kai asked.
"Well you saw where that went. As for the other one he's been busy planning a wedding for his son" I said.
"How come he doesn't want to see us?" Kai asked.
I shrugged "he just doesn't".
"Who needs him anyway?!" Ryan asked.
"True" Kai said.
"What made you want to take your mom out?" Ryan asked.
"She was doing too much. I mean she had two of my ex friends try and harm me. On top of that she played me thinking we would get along and boom she faked her death. She was insane! Then I had to protect you. Didn't want her trying to harm you too" I said.
"Was I born yet?" Kai asked.
"Nope it was just Ryan at that time" I said.
"Where was dad?" Kai asked.
"He was away on business" I said.
"You sure about that? His business was probably... never mind" Ryan said. Kai wide eyed him but didn't say anything.
"Well with what's going on with Salem. I want you both to be there for her" I said.
"First is all Salem doesn't like me. So I don't see why I have to be there for her. Kai is more than enough and then you have the dog too" he said.
"Ryan I don't care if she doesn't like you. Just be there for her. Trust me... later on she'll remember that" I said.
"Just make sure Whatever dad does to these two assholes that it's good and torturous!. There's two kinds of people I truly hate. And pedophiles are one of them" he said.
"I'll always be there for Salem. She is our baby sister"
Kai said."It's because she likes you more. I get it" Ryan said.
"Even Harlow has to be there for her. The more support she has the better". Ryan laughed "Harlow will not be there for her. But if you say so".
"Look like I said at least try and be nice and understanding" I said.
"Mom you and I both know that empathy emotion I lack. But I guess I'll fake it" he said.
"Good, See Ryan it works out" I said. He rolled his eyes and got up. Kai got up and hugged me "Mom you are a strong person. Especially all you went through and I know there's more. But I get you don't want to talk about it. I'm happy you're my mom". Those words made me tear. Kai could be such a sweetheart when he's ready
