At this point my dad sealed the deal with how handled the situation with Salem and I. Once I realized that I didn't want to fight for him anymore. That night I couldn't sleep. Getting up I made my way to the bathroom. When I went to open the door I saw a glimmer of light flickering from the living room.
Walking quietly to see Salem and her dad sitting together on the couch. But Salem was sleeping on his chest. His arm was snuggled around her. That said it for me. I stared at them for a few more minutes. After I went to the bathroom I went back to sleep.
The next morning my mommy made me some grits with biscuits. To top it off she made my favorite hot chocolate. My mommy was the best. Who needed a daddy when I have a perfectly good mommy.
"Harlow? Mommy has to go to the doctor. So you can stay here with daddy" she said. Following her to the front door. That man who lived here smiled "just us today Harlow".
"Mommy can I come with you?!" I begged.
"Harlow you hate doctors!" She said.
"But I want to go with you!" I said.
My mom looked at the man on the couch. He smiled "Come on Harlow stay here and we can go get lunch".
"No, thank you! Mommy wait let me grab my jacket" I said. Ignoring the man on the couch. Putting on my jacket I raced outside. It's just that I didn't want to be with him. I can say I'm not feeling my dad anymore. Maybe it would've been better if he stayed away.
"Harlow are you okay?" My mom asked.
I nodded "I'm fine".
"Just asking cause you never want to come with me to the doctors..." she said.
"I know" I said.
Not that I wanted to tell her the truth. Cause my mom is like a mediator. And I wasn't trying to make amends with him or Salem. I'm content with mommy, Ryan, Kai and the twins.
About a few hours later we got back. My dad had cooked dinner. That nasty pasta again. When we walked in he smiled "sit and eat". I didn't want anything from him. But I sat down because my mom would've forced me to. Sitting there I watched Salem talk up a boring storm. Mentally rolling my eyes. But the man was eating up every word she was saying. It's like they were the only ones having a conversation. "Harlow how come you're not eating?" He asked.
Blinking at him a few times. I refuse to speak to him. My mom spoke for me "she's probably not hungry". He stared at me and I stared back. Salem looked at me "Well if she's not going to eat her food then pass it over here".
My mom shook her head "she'll eat it later". No I'm not. But that's a good lie. After dinner I went to hang out with my brothers. Even though I was on punishment they secretly let me watch my tablet. What are brothers for?!. "Harlow you were quiet around the table".
I shrugged.
"Are you not speaking to dad?" Kai asked.
I shook my head.
"Oh Harlow is giving dad the silent treatment" Ryan teased.
"I'm just not talking to him anymore. Nor Salem. I'm better off without them both!" I said.
"Yeah I don't know about that one" Kai said.
"Well my day was great... and that without talking to neither dad or Salem" I said.
Ryan and Kai looked at each other "Harlow you'll need dad one day".
Shaking my head "Nope I won't! I have mommy".
"There'll be something's mommy can't be there to help you with. Then you'll need daddy" Kai said.
"Nope I have you two to help me" I said.
"Yes we will help you but there's going to something only dad can help you with" Ryan said.
"Nope he won't! Trust me!. He would run to Salem's beck and call" I said.
"He would run to yours too" Kai said.
"Yeah okay..." I said.
These two was bothering me about the whole situation. And I didn't want to go in my room cause Salem would most likely be there. So instead I went to my moms room. She was in there watching television. Climbing up on her bed I joined her.
She smiled "comfy?".
I nodded.
We laid there and watched a movie together. It felt nice to be with mommy. At least someone enjoys my company.
