Gia and I had an therapy session. She's been a little distant since last week. Hopefully we can figure out what's been going on. Before I could drive "Delano I have to tell you something".
Looking back at her "like what?".
She took a deep breath "Umm.. I got a letter in the mail the other day..." I cut her off "Look let's just talk about this in therapy". She didn't answer me. I backed the car up and started driving.
When we got there Gia was on the couch next to me "welcome back you two".
I smiled.
Gia didn't say anything.
"Gia is everything okay?" The therapist asked.
"No it's not. I need to come clean" she said.
The therapist glanced at me "I guess we give Gia the floor to see what she has to say". Gia turned to me "when I went to Arizona and you claimed that I didn't. Well I didn't. I went to New York with Ryan to visit a male friend".
"So you lied to me?" I asked.
"Yeah. But this male friend... he was someone I met months before I went. He was sick health wise. But the only thing we did at the time was kiss" I said.
She was talking but I zoned out when she said they kissed.
"After that I haven't seen him but I kept in contact with him. When we split after Kai was born we started an relationship to see if it would work. He was getting worse. But he was there to help me cope won't my depression" I said.
"Wait? You pushed me away so I wouldn't have to deal with the depression. But you allowed this man to help you with it? Why couldn't you allow me to help you through it?".
"Didn't think you would be much help. Delano all we did was argue and argue! Our relationship at that time was very toxic! If anything I thought you would make everything worse" she said.
"Wow! Thanks Gia for believing in me" I said.
"Gia is there more?" The therapist asked.
"Yeah the other day I got a letter that informed me he passed away. And he left me money and also put a trust up for Ryan and Kai" she said.
"And you guys were only friendly and this man left you money? Yeah I must be dumb! Just admit you slept with him too, Gia" I said. No man and I mean no man will just give a woman money without getting something in return. "I never slept with him! If anything we kissed here and there. But that's it".
Fanning her out of my face "you want to come clean but you can't admit you slept with him".
"See this is what I'm talking about! This is why I didn't want to tell you. You're not listening. Instead you're sitting her accusing me!" She yelled.
"Stop yelling!" I demanded.
"Whoa! Look let's go through what just happened. Gia you had a friend who you got close to. Not sexually but emotionally. Is there a reason you chose to emotionally connect with this man?".
She glanced at me "you see the way this animal just responded? This was us all the time back then. I couldn't take it anymore. What friends did I really have? None. Bria was there but it's obvious she was shacking up with him. So I had not a soul to confide in. When I met him... it felt nice to have someone who didn't know Delano or I to talk to. The control Delano was trying to have on me was annoying. He treated me as if I'm the one who broke the trust in the relationship before this happened. It's like he refused to deal with his guilt so he put it on me. I had to break away so I went to New York. Now if I had told him about going he would've flipped out. Like he would if I did anything".
"I controlled you because you were all over the damn place" I said.
"Delano are you listening to gia?" The therapist asked.
"At this point the only thing I heard was my wife technically cheated on me before I even did anything. She took our son to meet this man. Then pushed me away so he could come in and take my place as a father and a boyfriend. I mean and then she wants to sit here and lie to my face that they never slept together? He left her tons of money so it's obvious they did".
Gia shook her head "it doesn't matter what I say he's going to believe what he wants to".
"Delano you need to start listening to gia. She says she didn't sleep with this man then you need to believe her" the therapist said.
"Can't believe a liar. Everything that comes out of that mouth is a lie" I said.
"You should know" Gia mumbled.
"Know what?" I asked.
"Nothing. Obviously this isn't going to get anywhere" she said. You can say I was pissed! My wife was the one who cheated on me first. Well not first but I knew something was going on. From that time I overheard her on the phone talking to that guy.
