GIA POV
Since the kids will be starting school soon I wanted to tackle their school supply list. Thank the lord there was a Walmart near by. Weirdly enough Ryan and Kai wanted to accompany me to Walmart. I understand they are getting older so maybe they just want to pick out their own things.
"Nice of you two to join me" I smiled.
"Yeah and plus we know how you just pick up anything. We don't want some weird looking things for school" Kai said. Ryan nodded "he's right". Shaking my head we walked inside. Pushing the cart I went looking through the list. "Since Salem is going into pre-k she'll need the least supplies".
"We are all going to the same school?" Kai asked.
"Of course... it's easier. Now you boys can watch over your little sister" I said.
"You mean Kai can watch over Salem" Ryan corrected me.
"Well yeah, whichever works" I smiled. Kai rolled his eyes "I will just have to hide myself". Both boys went to grab what they needed and I made sure to let them know it had to be on sale. It's not like they can eat the supplies. Ryan came with this puma book bag. "And how much is that?" I asked.
"Mom come on! Kai and I both know dad is loaded. I doubt he'll mind spending some money" he said.
"So because dad has money that we should just spend the money recklessly?" I asked. He nodded "exactly".
"That's not happening so either you tell me how much the bag is... or you can put it back" I said.
"Fine, it's thirty bucks" he said. Leaving his bag in the cart they both disappeared again. My phone went off. Looking at it I see it's Ron. He texted me a picture of his daughter. She was feeding the ducks near a pond. I smiled to myself because she looked so cute.
"Mom What are you looking at?" Ryan peeked over my shoulder "is that the Ron guy?".
"Mind your business" I said.
"Didn't dad tell you, you couldn't talk to him anymore" he said.
"Excuse me?! Your dad don't own me" I said. Ryan and Kai both looked at each other "but he doesn't like him so why do you keep talking to him?".
"Because I am an adult and I can do what I want. Ron has never given your father a reason to dislike him. He's been nothing but a good friend to me" I said.
"Wait? Wasn't he the same one who introduced you to Levi?" Kai asked.
"He didn't know his friend was who he was" I said.
"But he was friends with this man. And this was the same man who put his hands on you" Kai said.
"Look both of you need to stay out of my business. Like I said dad doesn't own me. I can speak to whomever I want. Now are you both done shopping?" I asked.
"Are you done texting?" Ryan asked.
"Little boy" I warned.
"Ryan come on... dad will handle mom" Kai said.
"Pssshhh... handle who? Not me" I said. After our school shopping I went home. Both boys dropped the bags in the hallway and went to their rooms. Delano walked up to me "Aren't they so much help?" He joked.
"Yeah and Nosey too" I said. He picked up the bags and brought them to the dining room table. "What happened?" He asked. While taking the stuff out of the bags "well Ron sent me a pic through text of his daughter and it was cute. Ryan saw it and started. Saying how you told me to never talk to Ron again. And how you don't like him so I should respect that and not speak to him".
"I'm not going to argue about Ron. You already know how I feel about him. But I never said that. Knowing how you are that'll be the last thing I would say to you" he said.
"I know that! It's just coming from Ryan and Kai" I said. Delano didn't say anything more about it. Salem came into the room "mommy did you get frozen?!".
Pulling the Elsa book-bag from the bag. She jumped in excitement "yay!". The smallest things make her happy. An hour later, we were all around the dinner table. It was actually quiet for once. Just the clinking of forks hitting the plates as we ate.
"Dad, did mom tell you Ron texted her earlier?" Ryan asked. Delano side eyed me "she told me, why?".
"And your okay with it?" He asked.
Delano shrugged "Ron is her friend. What can I do about it?".
"Umm I don't know stop her" Kai chimed in.
"Boys look you can't control everything. If mom wants to talk to Ron... then let her. As long as she knows how we feel about it then that's it" he said.
"Just when I thought old dad was coming back. He just peeked his head in and dipped out" Ryan said.
"You both need to stop meddling in what I'm doing" I said. "I think you're forgetting who's the parent and who's the child here". The table got quiet again. Hearing a slight fart that bubbled for a good five seconds. Salem laughed "oops I farted". Leave it up to her to have the table laughing.
Ron has been a friend for a good while now. He's never ever had me question our friendship. It anything he's been more of a good person to me. He didn't have to help me get away from Delano. Or he didn't have to help us move. But he offered to help out.
