GIA POV
"Harlow!!!" I yelled. Hearing her feet hit the ground as she ran to where I was. She came to a full stop at the bathroom door "yes?".
"Look what I have?" I said. She came closer and smiled "is that a bunny?!".
I nodded "yup, it's your bunny!". Handing her the bunny she cuddled him in her arms "wow! It's so cute and soft!".
"You'll have to give it a name" I said.
"Bunny is a nice name. I like bunny" she said.
"Harlow that's not a name. But I guess so" I said.
"Such a cute little bunny!" She said. We both walked out and she was still holding it. Delano stopped in his track and looked down "is that a rabbit?".
"Yeah it's Harlow's rabbit" I said.
"A dog and now a rabbit. What's next?" Delano joked.
"As long as Harlow is happy... then that's all that matters at the moment" we both turned to see her on the couch with the rabbit on her lap. She was slowly petting it. Salem came out her room looking around "Mommy I can't find my dog!".
"Salem relax it's probably outside in the back" I said.
"I looked back there and he wasn't there!" She said.
"He's out there just wait until he comes back inside" Delano said.
"Okay" she pouted.
"Come on lets get going before you're late" Delano said. She hugged me and ran behind Delano outside. Both Ryan and Kai came walking out "bye mom".
"No hug?" I asked.
Kai turned around with a smile "of course you get a hug".
"At least Kai is still my baby boy" I said. Ryan sighed "fine". Listen I don't care how big my kids get... they will always be my little babies. "Mom did you smell that awful thing coming from the back?".
"What smell? I can smell anyone and anything. But I didn't smell what you did" I said.
"I don't know what it is. But it reeks. I had to close our windows" Ryan said.
"Hmm it's probably a dead skunk or something" I said. They both walked by Harlow but stopped "Hold up that's a rabbit".
"Yes it's a rabbit and it's name is bunny" Harlow said.
"Cute" Ryan sarcastically said.
Harlow and I decided to clean up the backward from all the leaves and left over snow. She left her bunny inside so it wouldn't get cold. Watering the bushes I noticed something sticking out.
"Mommy What is that smell?" Harlow asked.
Not paying her any mind. I went in deeper to see what the thing was. When I peeled back the bush I noticed it was Salem's dog. It was dead laying there with flies on it. Gasping I jumped back covering my mouth. Harlow ran over to me but I stopped her. "Go inside!".
"Why?" She asked.
"Just go inside!" I yelled. She ran her little legs inside the house.
Following her I ran to call Delano. Even though he's at work but this was an emergency. "Hello?".
"Hey it's me. Look I was cleaning the back yard.... taking a deep breath... well I found Salem's dog and it's dead!".
"First off calm down and breathe. Secondly are you sure it's her dog?" He asked.
"Of course it's her dog!" I said.
"Um... okay don't tell her anything until I get home. Don't touch anything either. Leave it there. When I come home I'll handle it" he said.
"She's going to be so upset" I said.
He sighed "she will be". Great last thing we both needed was an emotionally upset Salem. Who would kill an animal?. As the time went by Delano finally came home. Thank god he came home early. Harlow was too busy with her rabbit. We both went in the back and Delano slowly moved the dog from the bush. "Poor thing was shot" I said.
Delano sighed "the dog barely barked. He didn't bother anyone".
"First Ron is missing and now the dog mysteriously gets shot? That's two coincidences. You don't think someone is after us?".
"If anyone is after us. There's two people that I can suspect right now. My sister and that idiot she's with" he said.
"What do they want from us?! We move across the country to start fresh and it seems like it never ends!" I said. Delano got up with his hands out so he didn't touch me "don't want you over stressing. Just relax and we will figure something out. Maybe tomorrow we go looking to see if we can find anything about Ron or where my sister and brad could be".
I nodded "I just hope they don't try and hurt me or the kids".
"They won't I promise you that" he said.
He went on to continue to remove the dead dog from our property. Something was making me feel scared.
Like something bad is about to happen.
