DELANO POV

I can't believe Ryan is turning fourteen in a matter of hours. Crazy, how time flies! I remember him being born. That labor was insane. Especially when Gia and I weren't on best terms. Remembering it like it was yesterday.

[flashback]...

Gia and I haven't spoken to each other like we used to. And that was my fault. I messed up. But I still wanted to be involved in our sons life. The doctor claimed he would be here on the eighteenth. But today is the thirteenth and I was told Gia was experiencing contractions. So maybe the baby will be here tonight or tomorrow.

With all that going on I couldn't really focus on work. My mind was on Gia and I was worrying as well. Deciding to leave early. Making my way to where Gia was staying. But in the middle of that I got called that Gia was going to the hospital. Making a U turn I headed there.

Gia and Bria were already in a room. I walked in not knowing what to do or expect. But I saw Gia in the bed with a belt around her stomach and an IV going in her top hand. Rushing to her side "is she okay?".

"She's in labor" Bria said.

Gia grabbed my shirt and screamed in my chest "you need to breathe".

"That's not taking the pain away!" She whined. The nurse came in "Gia we will need to check how far along you are?".

"And how would you check that?" I asked.

"Through her vagina of course. I need to check her cervix to see how dilated she is". Gia side eyed the nurse "I'm in pain and you want to check me?!".

"I have to" she said.

"No!" Gia closed her legs.

"She has to check! Don't be difficult" I said.

"No offense Gia, you opened your legs for Delano so I don't see why you can't do it for her" Bria chimed in. We both glanced at Bria who didn't seem bothered. "It'll hurt".

"It'll be quick" the nurse said.

Gia smiled "funny he said the same thing. Look at me now... in painful labor!".

"Is she always this funny?" The nurse asked.

"Not always! You caught her on a good day" I joked.

Gia eventually gave in and let the nurse check her. Found out she was three centimeters dilated which meant I have no idea. But she has calmed down a little. This calmness is temporary. She was slowly eating ice chips. Apparently when you're in labor you can't consume any food.

Bria was napping in the chair next to the bed. This labor was going very slow. Standing next to gia she started getting uncomfortable. Looking at the machine recording the contractions.

"Oh god! Here we go!" Gia gripped the railings on the bed and just inhaled. Rubbing her back softly hoping it'll help with the pain. Hours in she was sitting up crying and moaning. I felt like crap that I couldn't take the pain away.

"Why does this hurt so much?!" She cried.

"It's soon to be over!" I said.

"Just take him out so the pain will stop! I need medicine!" She cried.

"Gia you got this!" Bria said.

"I don't got shit but pain!" She cried.

The nurse came back in "Well Gia you can either take the epidural or just it naturally".

"Give me medicine!" She yelled. The nurse nodded and left the room. Gia sighed "at this rate I'll have him before she gives me medicine!". An hour later the nurse along with the anesthesiologist walked in. Gia smiled "you two are a life saver!".

"Well we only need one person in the room to make sure you don't move while receiving the epidural" the nurse said. Bria eyed me "I'll stay".

"No I got it!" I said. Gia cried out "Bria let Delano stay!". Bria huffed But she walked out. They sat Gia up on the side of the bed. She was facing me while they gave her the medicine. Gia's face was mixed with pain, uncomfortableness and nervousness. Once they were done Gia laid down. She smiled "this medicine is a god send!". Bria came in but her mood was sour.

"How do you feel?" I asked.

"Like jello. But I'm numb" she smiled.

It felt like time flew by. The nurse came in to check his again. She was fully ready to have our son. "Are you the father?". I nodded "I will need you to hold one of her legs and cheer her on to push". Did what she told me to do.

Watching Gia bring our son into the world was an amazing thing to see. I saw her in a different light. When our son came out she was white as a ghost. And a head full of dark hair. He came out with both arms wiggling out. Cutting the umbilical cord brought tears to my eyes. Gia was just tired. While the doctor stitched her up I was holding him.

He was perfect.

Gia wanted to hold him. Handing him over carefully. That close moment we shared. "Guess that doctor was wrong?".

I smiled "Guess so".

"December fourteenth, two thirty four in the morning. What's the name? Mom? Dad?" the nurse said.

We both looked at each other. Gia looked at him "Ryan Hendrix Reid".
