Chapter 160

Black dyed rose petals scattered everywhere..... Natasha loves the color black. Everyone held a single rose, standing there.... all in silent.

Maddy brought a tissue up to face and wiped away the tears that were falling down..... James stood next to her, while Steve stood on the other side. Bucky stood in the back.... wishing he was standing next to his wife and child.

Tony, Pepper and Morgan stood not far from Maddy.... Morgan was looking at James and kept making kissy faces.

Clint and his family stood in front of Maddy....they were the closest.

All the other heroes stood in the back.... respecting the honorable hero that died.

Barton turned around looking at Maddy.... he motioned for her to move towards him. Maddy looked at Steve, than to James.

"James stay with Uncle Steve," Maddy whispered.

James nodded.

Maddy slowly walked towards Barton and his family.....

"Since you were her other best friend.... I'd figure you want to say something first," Barton said.

Maddy nodded.... her breathing quickly started to pick up as she turned to face everyone.

"Ages ago.... Nat once said if she had to pick between protecting herself or us, she'd pick us. I never thought that day would come, where she would lay her life down for us all..... I never thought my best friend.... my sister would no longer be here. Natasha was a lot of things: a fighter, a warrior, a friend, an aunt, a trainer," Maddy said, looking around.

"Natasha will not before gotten! We love you Nat.... forever and always," Maddy replied.

Barton placed his arm on Maddy's shoulder and gently squeezed it.

"Couldn't have said it better," Barton smiled.

Maddy smiled.... walking back over to Steve and James.

A few heroes that knew Natasha gave a few words about how amazing she was... and how she left the world to early.

Maddy turned to look at Steve.... noticing something was off about him.

"Are you okay?" Maddy asked.

"Hm-yeah," Steve said.

Maddy frowned.

"I'm fine," Steve smiled.

"Why aren't you gonna say a few words?" Maddy asked.

"Because you basically said everything! She was an honorable woman.... a true hero," Steve whispered.

"Right," Maddy sighed.

After the funeral everyone stuck around... visiting. Maddy stood on the edge of the lake, watching the rose petals float away. She snapped her head..... watching James and Morgan chase each other. In the corner of her eye.... she saw Steve smiling. Confusion filled her eyes.. but also curiosity.

Steve stood towards the leaning tree... texting on his phone.

Maddy walked over towards him....

"Why are you so smiley? Omg did you get laid?!" Maddy laughed.

"N-No.... can't I be happy?" Steve asked.

"Depends," Maddy smiled.

Steve and Maddy stared at one another....

"Break already!" Maddy frowned.

"Nope!" Steve smirked.

"Okay well.... if you won't break, think you could watch James tonight?" Maddy asked.

"Really?" Steve asked, happiness filled his eyes.

"Yes. Absolutely!" Maddy smiled.

"Are you and Bucky going out?" Steve asked.

"Actually we are staying in," Maddy smirked.

"WH-EW," Steve frowned.

"You asked," Maddy laughed.

Steve pulled Maddy into a hug.... kissing the top of her head, like he use to before the world went to crap.

"I'm so glad you've gotten everything.... you've ever asked for," Steve whispered.

"Really?" Maddy asked.

Steve nodded.

"I just wish you were happy," Maddy sighed.

"Maddy.... I am happy, like really happy," Steve smiled.

"Yeah?" Maddy asked.

"I have my family.... it's all I want," Steve said.

"A-are you planning to go back to Peggy?" Maddy asked.

Steve froze....

"You are.... aren't you?" Maddy asked.

"Honestly? No. I have thought about it.... but I'm happy here! I wanna see my nephew grow up.... I wanna see you and Bucky have another child, and maybe one day I'll meet the one and we'll have kids," Steve smiled.

Steve and Maddy turned to see James being thrown into the air by Bucky.... happiness filled both of their eyes.

Both knew everything was finally good.

Everyone was finally happy.
