"ARE YOU BLOODY STUPID?!" Maddy screamed at Steve... who was calming sitting in the bed."Maddy calm down..... it didn't blow up," Steve sighed.
"WHAT IF IT DID?! I-I CAN'T LOSE YOU TOO," Maddy screamed... tears were forming up in her eyes.
"I'm okay, see! I'm very much alive... I will never leave you," Steve replied standing up.
"You better not... or I'll kick your nonexistent ass," Maddy said.
"But you can't always keep protecting me... it's my job as your older brother to protect you," Steve smiled.
"You are too small to protect me... maybe once you get this serum it could help," Maddy replied.
"Yeah... then we will end this war as brother and sister," Steve laughed.
Steve walked over to Maddy and pulled her into a hug....
"I'll let you get some rest... you have a big day tomorrow," Maddy smiled.
"Goodnight Maddy," Steve said.
She nodded and turned on her heels and left the recruits cabin.
****************************
Maddy looked outside of the window and watched as kids scrambled out of the street.
She turned to look at Steve and Peggy.... Steve was looking out of the window, and Peggy was too.
"I know this neighborhood... I got beat up in that alley, and that vacant lot... and behind that diner," Steve laughed.
"Did you have something against running away?" Peggy asked.
"You start running, they'll never let you stop. You stand up, you push back.... they can only tell you no for so long, right?" Steve said.
"I know a bit what that's like... to have every door shut in your face," Peggy sighed.
"Who'd shut a door on you? I figured guys would be climbing over each other to hold them open," Steve replied.
Maddy watched them talk to one another... she couldn't help but smile, she could see the connection between Peggy and Steve.
"Depends which door you're trying to get through," Peggy shrugged.
"I guess I don't know why a beautiful.... Agent... why would she want to join the army anyhow? She could do whatever she wanted," Steve said.
"You don't know an awful lot about women, do you?" Peggy asked.
"No... he does not," Maddy mumbled.
"You got me all wrong, Agent Carter. I don't know anything about women.... this is probably the longest conversation I've ever had with one.... besides my sister of course," Steve smiled.
Maddy looked over at Peggy who was laughing.
"I wish I were kidding. Think about it, I don't have any money.... so I can't take them to dinner. I'm kinda short....that doesn't help. Like ever.... oh and I don't dance, so that's off the table," Steve shrugged.
"You must have at least danced," Peggy replied.
"I use to stand on my mom's feet when I was about seven.... I don't know, asking a girl to dance seems to be terrifying, and then in the last few years it didn't seem so important... I figured I might as well wait," Steve said.
Maddy had a tiny smile on her face... thinking about her mother, who she misses terribly.
"For what?" Peggy asked.
Steve shrugs and looks out the window.
"The right person," Steve said.
Suddenly the car comes to a stop... they all three look at one another.
"This is it," Peggy smiled.
"I think I'll just wait out here," Maddy sighed.
Peggy nodded.
Steve and Peggy climbed out of the car....
"Wait! Steve!" Maddy yelled rushing out of the car... practically falling out of the it.
She stood up and brushed herself... she quickly walked up to Steve and pulled him into a tight hug....
"Good luck!" Maddy smiled.
"Thank you Maddy," Steve said.
Peggy placed a hand on Steve and guided him inside the antique shop.
