Chapter 12

After reaching the man who had killed Dr. Erskine.... he jumped into a small submarine, Steve jumped into the water and swam after him.

Maddy stood on the edge and watched.

Suddenly the man flew through the air and landed next to Maddy... she walked over to him, and placed her foot on his chest.

"Who the hell are you?" Maddy asked.

"The first of many. Cut off one head.... and two more shall take its place," The man laughed.

"Hail....Hydra," The man coughed.. Maddy then noticed that he was foaming at the mouth, he quickly started to seize and then died... died right in front of Maddy.

She stumbled back... and looked over at Steve who was climbing out of the water.

"Did you kill him?" Steve asked.

"What? No! He's clearly foaming at the mouth... cyanide pill, perhaps?" Maddy said.

Steve looks down at himself... stunned at his new body.

"Incredible, right!" Maddy laughed.

Steve nodded.

Suddenly there was a loud squeal... Both Steve and Maddy look up and see Peggy pulling up to in a Sedan and jumps out and walks towards them.

"We need to go, Now!" Peggy ordered.

Maddy and Steve walked over towards the Sedan and climbed in.

Maddy hops up on the table and watched as an SSR Doctor and Nurse draw blood from Steve's arm.

"You think you got enough?" Maddy asked to Doctor.

"Maddy be nice!" Steve snapped.

Maddy rolled her eyes... and looked over at Peggy who was watching Steve with such concern in her eyes. Maddy smiled.

The nurse fills the vial, resting it besides a dozen others....

"All Dr. Erskine's research and equipment is gone.... any hope of reproducing the program is locked in your genetic code, but it could take years," Peggy paused... looking from Steve to Maddy.

"At this moment, you both are the only super soldier there are," Peggy continued.

"Erskine deserved better," Steve said looking down at his shattered glasses.

"If it could work only twice... he'd still be very proud of you.... the both of you," Peggy smiled.

They all three stared at one another... awkwardly.
