Chapter 70

Maddy stood in front of her mirror... quickly cleaning up her wounds, she threw her head back and bit her lip... trying so hard not to scream.

She slowly put on a tank top and threw on some basketball shorts.... tossing her hair up into a high ponytail, she walked out of her room and heard Steve.

"I don't remember giving you a key," Steve said.

Maddy turned the corner... and held her side.

"You didn't.... he's with me, calm down," Maddy breathed out.

"You really think I'd need one? My wife kicked me out," Fury frowned.

"WAIT?! You have a wife?!" Maddy asked, completely surprised.

"I didn't know you were married," Steve said.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me," Fury shrugged.

"I know, Nick. That's the problem," Steve replied, turning to his side and flipping the lights one.... seeing Maddy's and Fury's injuries.

Fury moved his finger towards his lips, indicating for Steve to be silent... and quickly flipped the lights off, pulling out his phone and started typing.

                      * ears everywhere *

"I'm sorry to have to do this, Maddy offered... and I have no where else to crash," Fury sighed, looking down at his phone and typing again.

                 * SHIELD compromised *

"Who else knows about your wife?" Steve asked.... looking over at Maddy.

                * Me, You and Maddy *

"Just.... my friends," Fury said.

"Whoa! Nick Fury is calling me his friend," Maddy smiled.

Fury stood up and walked towards Maddy and Steve, he smiled weakly at them both.

"That's up to you both," Fury said.

Suddenly Fury is shot.... three times from through the wall and quickly collapsed to the floor.

Maddy looked out the window for the shooter then quickly rushed over to Fury.

"Don't.... trust anyone," Fury whispered, handing Steve a flash drive, then quickly passes out.

Maddy and Steve look at each other....

Maddy turned her head when she heard someone kick open the door.... a blonde woman emerged from around the corner, Maddy frowned.

"Miss Rogers? Captain Rogers? I'm Agent 13 of SHIELD  Special Service," The blonde woman said.

"Kate?" Steve asked.

"I'm assigned to protect you both," The blonde woman said.

Maddy roughly stood up...

"I don't need you to protect me! I'm a grow ass woman, who is very much stronger than you," Maddy hissed.

The blonde woman backed up... looking rather scared.

"On whose orders?" Steve asked.

Anger grew inside Maddy.... she couldn't understand why Steve was taking to this woman, Fury even said don't trust anyone.

"His," The blonde woman paused, taking a step closer.... she threw her hands up and waited for Maddy to back down.

"MADDY!" Steve snapped.

Maddy took a couple of step backs... and allowed the woman to examine Fury's body.

"Foxtrot is down, he's unresponsive. I need EMTs," The woman ordered into her radio.

"Do you have a twenty on the shooter?" A random agent said on the other end.

Maddy quickly stood up and started running towards the window....

"Tell then I'm in pursuit!" Maddy ordered, jumping through the window, with Steve in her tail.

Maddy chased The winter soldier through an office building, smashing through walls.... when she finally catches up with him on the roof....

"MADDY!! TAKE THE SHEILD!" Steve yelled from behind her... quickly throwing the shield.

Maddy grabbed the shield....and throws the shield towards the assassin.

The color from Maddy's face drained... when she noticed how he caught it with one swift move.

The winter soldier goes to throw it back... but Maddy quickly moves to the side, watching the shield move past her in slow motion.

Her eyes followed the shield and noticed Steve caught it.... she snapped her head towards The Winter soldier and saw that he was no longer there.

"SON OF BITCH!!" Maddy yelled, running to the ledge.
