His Super Soldier // Bucky Barnes

Chapter 67

Maddy stood outside of the Smithsonian Museum waiting for Steve to show up.... she turned her head when she heard a familiar rumble of a motorcycle pull up beside her.

"Well it's about time, How was your mission?" Maddy said.

"It was okay, Natasha is trying to set me up with people," Steve replied.

Maddy laughed handing Steve a baseball hat, he quickly grabbed it and placed it on his head.

They both started walking up the stairs and headed inside, the cold air hit both of their faces.... bring smiles to their face.

"I think it's weird that we have our own exhibit," Steve whispered.

"Are you kidding! I think it's amazing!" Maddy smiled.

Maddy and Steve both keep their face hidden and walk over to the exhibit.... Maddy was practically jumping in excitement.

"Welcome to the Smithsonian. Visitor information booths are available on the second level," The woman on the PA announced.

Maddy looked down and saw a small boy staring at her and Steve.... she turned and tugged on Steve's jacket, he looked at the boy and put his finger against his lips with a huge smile.

Maddy and Steve walk over to the display where mannequins stood wearing the costume of their old commando squad.

* Battle tested, Captain America and Miss America and their Howling Commando quickly earned their stripes. Their mission, taking down HYDRA, the Nazi rogue science division*

Maddy and Steve walk over to the display of Bucky Barnes.... Maddy's hands began to shake, tears starting welling up in her eyes, she felt a hand on her shoulder.... she turned and noticed Steve given her a sympathetic look.

Maddy sighed.

* Best friends since childhood, Bucky Barnes, Maddy Rogers and Steve Rogers were inseparable on both schoolyard and battlefield. Barnes is the only Howling Commando to give his life in service of his country *

Maddy noticed Steve walking towards a blacked out room.... she followed behind him slowly, she turned the corner and saw Peggy on the screen.

"That was a difficult winter. A blizzard had trapped half our battalion behind the German line. Maddy and Steve.... Miss America and Captain America, both fought their way through a HYDRA  blockage that had pinned our allies down for months.... they saved over a thousand men, including the man who would... who would become my husband as it turned out. Even after they died, Maddy and Steve were still changing my life," Peggy said while being interviewed.

Maddy looked over at Steve who was looking down at a picture Peggy, that he kept in his compass.... she noticed how sad he looked and it broke her heart.

"Why don't we go visit her?" Maddy asked.

"I-I'd like that!" Steve smiled.
