Chapter 38

It had been a whole year since Maddy and Steve woke up.... both hardly ever sleeping, due to the past haunting them, most nights they'd go to the gym... and punch out their frustrations.

Maddy stood in front of a punching bag, with every swing.... she took, it was like a memory... she was trying so hard to fight off and repress.

She closed her eyes... disappearing into her memories.

Steve and Her were running through the forest, dodging mortars, gunfire and the Tesseract's energy firearms.....

Maddy looked next to her and saw Bucky.... standing there, looking absolutely beautiful.

He smiled.

Her heart fluttered.

"I appreciate you gazing at me.... I really do, but we got a war to win," Bucky smiled.

"I'm not gazing.... I-I was just looking," Maddy blushed.

"There's no need to look.... darlin, I'm all yours," Bucky smirked.

Steve quickly raced up towards them....

"Would you too... stop love talking, we got a war to win," Steve frowned.

"What! We weren't! I-uh was just looking," Maddy said rolling her eyes.

Steve and Bucky laughed.

Maddy opened her eyes.... and started to punch faster... more aggressively.

"You are worth the risks," Bucky whispered.

"I am?" Maddy asked.

"Most definitely!" Bucky smiled.

Bucky leaned closer to Maddy.... his lips inches from hers.

"Damn it, Buck.... just kiss me already," Maddy growled.

Bucky pulled away.... and laughed.

"I don't know if I should.... I don't like being pressured," Bucky smiled.

Maddy groaned with frustration.... she turned around and started to walk away, Bucky roughly grabbed her arm and twirled her around.... to where she was facing him.

He pulled her close.... and slammed his lips onto hers, Maddy quickly melted deep into the kiss.

Bucky grabbed her waist and squeezed... Maddy jumped, while opening her mouth..

Bucky slipped his tongue into her mouth... Maddy melted even more.

They quickly pulled away.... both completely out of breath.

"You are making me feel some type of way, Maddy," Bucky blushed... running his fingers through his hair.

"Oh yeah?! What's that?" Maddy smiled.

"I-I think...." Bucky paused, looking down into her bright blue eyes.

"I think.... I'm falling in love with you," Bucky said.

"James Buchanan Barnes..... I'm falling in love with you too," Maddy smirked.

Bucky looked away.... Maddy giggled when she noticed he was nervous.

"After this war.... I promise to take you out, on the best date ever," Bucky smiled.

"I'm looking forward to that," Maddy blushed.

"DAMN IT!!" Maddy cursed.... punching the bag harder then before.

"Maddy are you okay?" Steve said from behind her....

"W-We should have died!" Maddy croaked.

"Why do you say that?" Steve asked... slowing walking closer to her.

"I-I don't know.... I keep having dreams, about him," Maddy weeped, her legs grew weak and they gave out... she fell down, and began to cry out.

"Hey! Maddy it's okay! He's in a better place," Steve replied... wrapping his arms around Maddy.

"How do you know that?" Maddy asked... wiping away her tears.

"I just know," Steve said.

"I'm such a mess.... how are you handling this so well?" Maddy asked.

"I'm a mess too.... I'm just good at hiding it," Steve shrugged.

Maddy stood up... and walked over to the bench, and sat down.

Steve walked over the punching bag and started to punch it.

Maddy dropped her head... into her trembling hands.

"Oh Bucky..... you really had me falling for you," Maddy whispered.
