Aarmau: Remember Me, Remember Us, Just Remember

Chapter 9

The moment he hits send his phone makes the whooping sound to let him know the text was sent. Almost immediately a similar received sound echoes from somewhere near the kitchen and his ears twitch from hearing it. He slowly turns his head and frowns.

Out of the corner of his eye he sees Celestia's ears perked up as she raises her head up off the floor. Aaron watches her push to her feet, cross over to a side table next to Aphmau, grab her phone and bring it back to him. She drops it beside him on the couch and then returns to her spot next to Alexander.

Aaron looks down at Aphmau's phone like it could explode at any moment. Setting his down beside him he picks hers up and looks down at the blackened screen. It instantly lights up and unlocks with just a glance. He notices she has the same phone as his so she must have programmed it to recognize his face.

The moment it unlocks he sees that her messenger notifies him that she has dozens of unread messages waiting for her. He feels his hair stand on end as his finger taps the messenger app and the names of everyone who texted her pops up.

Everyone here has texted her at some point over the last year, some dozens of times but one name in particular causes his heart to start beating hard in his chest....F.C.

Tears fill his eyes and a sob escapes from deep in his chest. He tries hard to stay quiet but the realization that he's found Shu is more than he can stand. He must have been louder than he thought because as tears continue to fall Melissa races down the stairs, circles the couch, sits beside him and pulls him into her arms.

Melissa looks him over trying to figure out what's wrong but all she sees is his phone in hands. Wait, that isn't his phone case. She sees his phone sitting on the couch next to him so she studies the one in his hand. It's Aph's so what's going on and why does he have her phone? "Aaron? What happened?"

Barely able to breathe he sobs, "Shu!"

Melissa is clearly confused, "What about Shu?! Did she finally answer you? Is she alright?"

Aaron shakes his head, "No..."

Melissa rolls her eyes. He's always been terrible at communicating when he's upset, "What do you mean?! Aaron come on, talk to me!"

Aaron lets out a sob and then laughs, "Aph...Aphmau...she is Shu!"
