Chapter 148

Zack looks at Elizabeth and sighs. "I would give you anything if it meant not having to see her face every day for the rest of my life but I suppose her silence is all I'll get. She has him in the same cave system at the lodge."

Everyone who'd been to the lodge turned and looked at one another. Aph turns to Elizabeth and watches as the panic melts away and she smiles as if she has the upper hand.

Aph glares at her as she pushes to her feet. Aaron catches the look on Elizabeth's face and tries to reason with her. "Elizabeth, if Garte isn't where Zack thinks he is, it's only going to mean more trouble for you."

Elizabeth isn't aware of the extent of Aph's power and simply smiles like the Cheshire Cat. Aph shakes her head as she crosses over to her. "Zack, something tells me he's not there but don't you worry, I'll find him and I won't make you suffer for her stupidity."

Zack frowns at her as he watches her place a hand on each side of Elizabeth's head. She briefly closes her eyes and when she opens them they're Irene's. "Remember."

Elizabeth flinches as she watches her memories replay themselves in the back of her mind. There aren't many of them, but she sees Aaron as the Ultima flicker a couple of times and then disappear.

Her heart races as she watches more images replay in her mind with the last one of Garte tied up and sitting in a maintenance closet at the high school. The image fades and within seconds she can see again.

Aph's arms drop to her sides and she leans into Aaron as exhaustion rolls through her. "Aph?"

Breathing deeply she rests her head back against his shoulder and slowly lets it out. "I'm alright, that wasn't as intense as the last one. She has him in a closet at the school."

Elizabeth frowns and looks around her in confusion. "What did you just do to me?"

Aph studies her closely, "Elizabeth, do you recognize the man standing behind me?"

She watches her glance at Aaron for a minute and then shakes her head. "He kind of looks like Derek Lycan but no, I've never seen him before."

Aph nods, "Good. Zack, I hope you're done eating for now because your time's up. Don't worry though, we'll pack you a doggie bag."

With that, she touches Elizabeth's forehead and whispers sleep. Aph barely acknowledges Katelyn rushing up behind her mother to catch her before she hits the floor.

Aph turns to Zack as he pushes from his chair and backs away from her. "Aw come on!"
