Chapter 71

Just as she was finishing up Aaron's chips the front door opens and everyone except Rowan and Carter walks into the house and they're all practically talking at once. It never used to bother her before so why now?

Aaron shakes his head as he listens to the noise by the front door but it's Aph's racing heart that truly draws his attention. He's not sure what started her anxiety issue but he'll help her figure it out. He turns to the group and growls, "Alright everyone! Inside voices please."

The room grows silent and they all practically freeze in place. Aph blushes because she knows she's the reason for Aaron's sudden outburst. "I'm sorry everyone. For some reason, the sound of everyone speaking at once makes me nervous. It doesn't make any sense but I'll figure it out."

Kim heads straight for the kitchen but it's clearly Emmalyn's voice everyone hears, "Lady Aphmau developed terrible anxiety after the Phoenix Alliance was established. Even though her boys were mostly in charge everyone still came to her with questions. Between that and trying to rebuild Phoenix Drop village she was always under a lot of stress. You must be channeling her emotions."

Aph sighs, "Levin and Malachi...that's right, it makes sense. She came back from the Irene dimension and the village was almost non-existent. Dante did what he could to keep the place together but 15 years was a long time for the place to be without a lord and both Levin and Malachi were young when she went into the Irene dimension. The place was a mess."

Dante glances over at her, "What was I back then?"

Aph smiles, "You were one of my trusted guards. Err her trusted guards. It was you, Garroth, and Laurence but at that point, you were the only one in the village. Garroth stayed behind in the Irene dimension fighting and Laurence was in the Nether."

Garroth puffs up, "I was her guard? Wait, why did I stay behind? I couldn't imagine ever leaving your err her side."

Aph glances over at Zane and offers him an apologetic smile, "You were fighting Zane."

Zane shakes his head, "We're always fighting."

Aph shakes her head, "This was different. You were not the Zane we all know and love. It was worse than before we became friends. But none of that matters."

Zane leans back against the kitchen island, "Tell me about this other Zane. And you don't have to worry I'm going to change Aph."

Emmalyn nods, "Why don't you tell them all a little about themselves. They don't have their memories so it's not like their personality will change. We've all been through the worst so far so they can handle this. It'll be kind of like a fairy tale."

Aph glances around the room and they all nod eagerly. A fairy tale? She could work with that.
