Aph shivers and nods, "I know you're right and I've been trying but with everything in my head I just keep seeing the same pattern repeating itself and I don't know how to stop it."
Aaron thinks for a moment and then frowns, "It's not yours to stop Babe. Maybe the reason everything went wrong is that she kept meddling in things that weren't hers to meddle in, and maybe she was subconsciously steering the events in the same direction."
Aph grows still and then nods, "She kept trying to fix it because her original actions created the ripple. Every time she tried to fix the ripple it just caused more damage. Ok, we'll try to not fix things but only after we've taken care of Ivan because we can't hope and pray he'll just go away."
Aaron sighs but even he knows Ivan is someone that has to be dealt with. Leaving him to do whatever he plans on doing could be dangerous and he just wants a nice quiet life. "Fine but after Ivan, we're going to focus on us and only us."
Aph agrees and after a couple more minutes to center herself they head back out into the cafe. She quickly speaks with her mom and says goodbye to her friends before they head home.
When they enter the house Melissa doesn't stay long to talk. After quickly asking how the morning went she grabs the keys to the car and leaves for her appointment.
Aaron and Aph glance at each other after she's gone and they smile. They don't get a whole lot of alone time, someone's usually always there, so aside from Alexander, Celestia, and Eli it's nice and quiet.
She can feel the hint of exhaustion pull at her and even though she knows she needs a nap she doesn't want to be alone. She crosses over to Aaron, crouched down to give the dogs some attention, and gently places her hand on his shoulder.
Aaron glances up at her with a big smile on his face. She can see he's enjoying his time with them and feels guilty even thinking of asking him to come with her. "I'm going to go take a nap."
Aaron nods as he continues to play with the dogs and watches as she turns toward the stairs and heads upstairs. The moment she's gone Celestia growls at him and Alexander pushes at him from behind.
Aaron's confused at first but then realizes they're telling him to follow her. He can't help but laugh as they head into the living room and curl up in front of the fireplace to take their own naps.
When he steps into the bedroom he finds that Aph is already curled up on her side of the bed with her back to the door. He quietly crosses the room, removes his shoes, and slides in next to her.
Aph is so exhausted she barely notices Aaron crawling in next to her. With every bit of energy she has left, she rolls toward him and frowns. "I thought you were playing with the babies?"
Aaron slides his arm beneath her head and pulls her up against his side until she burrows her face into the crook of his neck. "I think they decided it was best for me to be here with you."
Aph weakly nods as her body relaxes against him and her eyes close. Aaron feels the exact moment she falls asleep.
She still seems to tire so easily which is another thing he'll need to keep a close eye on. He gently kisses the top of her head, closes his eyes, and joins her.
