When Gene walked into the house to see how Aph was doing he was furious to find her and Aaron making out. He didn't stop to think about what he was seeing but just acted out of instinct.

Crossing the room he fisted his hand in the back of Aaron's hoodie and pulled him off of her. He didn't even look at Aph as Aaron fell to the floor and he moved to stand over him, "You sick pervert! What kind of man takes advantage of a helpless woman?!"

Aaron is clearly shocked and shame washes over him as his eyes move from Gene to Aph. What felt so natural and right just minutes ago now fills him with disgust. It doesn't matter that she responded to him, he should never have started it.

Aph watches the shame cloud Aaron's eyes and hears Gene yelling at him. Anger washes through her as Gene looms over Aaron who clearly feels guilty and won't defend himself.

Sudden warmth flares deep within her chest and spreads like wild fire through her veins. The last time she felt this was back on the cannon and she finds it more than a little comforting.

Something in Aaron tells him to look at Shu. As their eyes meet goosebumps race across his skin and his heart beat speeds up as adrenaline rushes through him. Whatever guilt and shame he felt vanishes and is instantly replaced by a mixture of surprise and fear as he watches her eyes turn from their natural warm amber to a bright white flame.

Those feelings are short lived and turn to alarm as he watches Shu pull the leads from her monitor off and her IV port snags on the covers and is yanked from her arm. His eyes dart to her arm as he watches blood start to trickle from the spot where the needle had been and then turn into a steady stream.

Aph is unaware of what she's doing as she swings her legs over the side of the bed, grabs the hand railing and then launches herself toward Gene. She vaguely hears herself scream at Gene to leave Aaron alone and sees Gene turn toward her in shock. Her body slams into him with enough force to bring her back to her senses and for that warmth to fade away.

Laying on the floor, she weakly rolls onto her back to stare at the ceiling and as her eyes grow heavy she whispers Aaron's name and asks him if he's alright. She feels him pulling her into his arms, pushing the pad of his thump against her arm and urgently trying to get her to focus on his voice.

She can feel a weak smile form on her lips but she's just too tired to do what he's asking. Her whole body relaxes, her breathing slows and she sighs as if she's slipping into a nice warm bath. Aaron continues to talk to her but she just doesn't have the energy to listen. Darkness creeps in from the edges of her vision and without warning swallows her whole.
