Aph watches her mother and Eric move into the living room as she picks up her fork to take her first bite. She quickly realizes most of her friends have already eaten so the only ones really left are her, Aaron, Rowan, Garroth, and Zack.

She's relieved that her delay didn't stop them from eating. Normally she would wonder why they're still here but something tells her it has to do with a certain visitor upstairs.

Aph manages to get through a couple of bites of her tamales and is amazed by how good they taste before the room suddenly grows quiet and everyone's mood changes. Glancing up from her plate she sees that Zack is standing at the bottom of the stairs and while everyone is staring at him, he's staring at her.

His eyes finally move around the two rooms and he stops when he sees her mother. If Aph isn't mistaken she sees regret in his eyes but once he looks at Eric he knows there's no way to fix it.

He turns and moves into the kitchen, fixes a plate, grabs a glass of water, and carries them over to the table. He purposefully sits in the chair opposite her with his back to the living room so he can see her.

Aaron grabs his plate and begins to stand when Zack shakes his head, "Don't leave because of me Aaron."

Aaron frowns at him, "I wasn't leaving because of you but to give Aph a little space."

Aph gently covers one of his hands with hers and smiles at him, "Please stay?"

Aaron glances at Zack and then nods at her as he sits back down.

The table grows quiet as she watches him take his first bite, close his eyes and groan with pleasure. After several more quick bites, he wiggles his fork toward her plate. "Keep eating Aphmau. These tamales are to die for and I know you're hungry."

Aph rolls her eyes as she fills her fork and takes a bite. After she swallows she sighs with pleasure. "Mom made them. They were always good when I was a kid but they taste even better now. I've noticed that about a lot of food since I woke up or maybe mom's just gotten better."

They can hear Sylvanna say her name as if embarrassed and Eric chuckles. Zack frowns at what Aph says. He doesn't turn around but nods. "I knew they were hers, she was always a good cook when she wasn't burning it. Ok, Aphmau let's get this over with but please take your time. I want to hear everything you claim you know and I plan on getting seconds."
